BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for “dynamic, results driven” individual to join as Technical Engineering Supervisor at our production plant in Viana, Portugal.
Key Responsibilities
Functional Leadership & Team Development
- Provides direct functional leadership to VAVE Engineer(s), FMEA Coordinator(s), Digitalization Engineer(s), and Product Cybersecurity & Safety activities.
- Ensures clear objectives, priorities, and interfaces across all supervised functions.
- Coaches and develops team members, reinforcing technical excellence, accountability, and structured execution.
Value Creation & Competitiveness
- Owns the VA/VE roadmap and ensures alignment of value initiatives with plant, product, and business objectives.
- Reviews and challenges business cases, technical assumptions, and implementation strategies for value initiatives.
- Ensures sustainability of delivered value beyond SOP through governance and performance tracking.
Risk Prevention & Robustness Governance
- Ensures consistent and effective execution of DFMEA, PFMEA, Reverse FMEA, and Equipment FMEA activities.
- Acts as escalation point for high‑risk items related to design, process, equipment, or system weaknesses.
- Drives alignment between FMEA outputs, Control Plans, maintenance strategies, and operational practices.
Digital & System Enablement
- Oversees industrial digitalization initiatives that support data availability, decision‑making, and process robustness.
- Ensures coherence between digital tools, manufacturing needs, quality systems, and cybersecurity requirements.
- Promotes data‑driven problem solving and process monitoring.
Cybersecurity & Safety Alignment
- Provides oversight on product cybersecurity and functional safety activities within the plant.
- Ensures compliance with applicable standards and integration into launch and SOP processes.
- Acts as interface to global cybersecurity and safety organizations.
Requirements & Competencies
Education & Experience
- Engineering degree in Mechanical, Electronics, Mechatronics, or similar discipline (Master’s preferred).
- Minimum 10 years of experience in the automotive industry in engineering, industrialization, or technical leadership roles.
- Proven exposure to product development, manufacturing environments, and launch/SOP activities.
Technical Profile
- Strong understanding of value engineering, cost structures, and industrial constraints.
- Solid knowledge of FMEA methodologies (AIAG/VDA) and risk‑based thinking.
- Good exposure to digitalization, data usage, and industrial systems is an advantage.
- Broad technical credibility enabling interaction with multiple engineering disciplines.
Leadership & Behavioral Skills
- Recognized technical authority with the ability to influence without hierarchical power.
- Structured thinker, capable of managing complexity and competing priorities.
- Strong communication skills across technical, managerial, and operational levels.
- Results‑oriented with a pragmatic and fact‑based decision‑making style.
