The Opportunity:

We are seeking a motivated Technical Writer Intern to join our team at our Omaha, NE location. In this role, you will help create clear, accurate, and user-friendly documentation for our products and internal processes.

This position is perfect for someone who enjoys writing, organizing information, and translating complex technical topics into simple, accessible language.

The internship offers a hybrid schedule, requiring in-office presence every Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in creating, editing, and maintaining technical documentation such as: User guides, API references, How-to articles, Release notes, and Internal process documents.
  • Work closely with engineers, product managers, and QA to gather information and understand product functionality.
  • Help standardize documentation formats, voice, and style across the organization.
  • Update and improve existing documentation based on feedback or product changes.
  • Participate in content reviews, audits, and testing documentation for accuracy.
  • Contribute to knowledge base improvements, diagrams, and workflow explanations.


Qualifications:

Required: 

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Technical Writing, English, Communications, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to explain technical information clearly and concisely.
  • Familiarity with basic documentation tools (e.g., Google Docs, MS Office).
  • Attention to detail and a willingness to ask questions.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.


Desired:

  • Exposure to or interest in software development, IT, or engineering concepts.
  • Experience with markdown, wiki platforms, or documentation systems.
  • Basic understanding of APIs, version control (Git), or agile development environments.
  • Portfolio or examples of writing samples (technical or non-technical).

Pay Range: There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications. The proposed salary range for this position is:

$39,400 - $60,700
