What You’ll Work On 

The Technical Document Coordinator is responsible for supporting safe, compliant, and efficient contractor work within the Abbott Nutrition Sturgis facility. This role coordinates contractor activities, prepares and maintains required risk assessment documentation, and serves as a key liaison between site personnel, contractors, and cross‑functional support teams. The position plays a vital role in protecting employee safety, product integrity, and facility operations while reinforcing a strong Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) culture.

  • Create and maintain comprehensive risk assessments for all contractor work performed within the facility, including mitigation strategies for both personnel and product safety.
  • Support the assessment and mitigation of safety risks associated with construction activities and major maintenance work.
  • Ensure contractor activities meet all Abbott, division, plant, and regulatory EHS, food safety, and quality requirements.
  • Facilitates communication between external contractors and Abbott personnel.
  • Communicate daily with operations, maintenance, engineering, and support teams to align on planned contractor activities.
  • Aligns contractor coordinator assignments to ensure adequate coverage, efficient workflows, and alignment with plant priorities.
  • Participate in and contribute to Tier 1 Meetings, Contractor Meetings, and Tier 2 Meetings, as required.
  • Support overall plant operations through accurate documentation, effective communication, and cross‑functional coordination.
  • Identify gaps or risks in contractor processes and escalate concerns appropriately.

You’ll be accountable for meeting our compliance standards including FDA, OSHA and Abbott policies and procedures. 

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma / GED

  • 2+ years' relevant experience in a related area such as Operations, Technical Services, or Quality in a healthcare industry.

  • Writing, editing and managing engineering and technical documentation utilized in the development of new products and improvement of existing products.

  • Developing spreadsheets or databases for the capture, assembly, and graphical presentation of metrics is required.

  • Good written and oral communication skills.

  • Good working knowledge of personal computer software programs in Windows environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in English, writing, technical communications or engineering or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.

  • Knowledge of division products and Quality systems, system linkages and quality measures is desirable.

The base pay for this position is

$20.85 – $41.75/hour
