JOB SUMMARY
The Director of Technical Business Development (Tech BD) has proven success in the areas in the areas of creating and selling technical solutions in the areas of Design, VAVE, Test Development, Manufacturing. The role is responsible for developing Product Domain Strategies and leveraging Jabil’s global technical capabilities. This role helps to grow business through profitable technical solutions and engagement wins. The Director of Technical Business Development also provides guidance to multi-functional engineering teams.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Technical Business Development: Actively support the Sales Team involving complex technical requirements, serving as the lead “technical engineering” resource in customer relationships. Functions as the point of contact in technical questions between a Jabil division and the customer
· Product Domain Lead: Leads specific Product Domains by leading an internal team on the domain analysis and strategy. Leads the execution of the Strategy & Business Development Plan
· Capabilities Management: Broad knowledge of Jabil’s capabilities and leverages them for assigned customers/BU’s. Build/maintain a broad capabilities network. Analyze capability needs and work with our Engineering Team on strategies for closure
· Manages and ensures the alignment and development of technology road maps between the assigned customer and the Jabil division. Assists in developing and implementing strategic direction for divisional Engineering teams
· Technically develops, manages and delivers highly complex technology solutions, including: responding to functional/technical elements of RFP’s, developing complex detailed Statements of Work (SOW), business proposals, project schedules/financials
· Provide input to and support execution of account plans
· Serves as primary point of contact for early supplier involvement on new customer R & D projects
· Knows and understands the assigned Business Unit (BU)’s strategic directions. Identifies BU’s strategic and technical direction
· Develop and maintain close relationships with existing and potential third-party suppliers of hardware and software solutions.
· Maintain an awareness of the evolving marketplace including new technologies that could be beneficial to integrate into Jabil’s solution suite.
· Develops good relationships with technical counterparts at the assigned customer (Sr. Director / VP Level)
· Leads initiatives for technical internal capabilities
· Presents and sells Jabil’s technology to assigned customer or program. Must be professional and comfortable doing presentations to external senior level engineers and customers executives
· Contribute to the development of the high-level long-term business strategy (along with CTO and Global Business Unit Leaders)
· Develop a broad and deep knowledge of all projects underway within the business
· Contributes to the LTP by providing capability analysis and proposal on capabilities development.
· May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
· Strong knowledge of industry technologies
· Track record in Sr. Technical management.
· Analytic and decisive decision maker.
· Demonstrated ability to lead technical/capability projects.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive communicator.
· Action-oriented, entrepreneurial, flexible, and innovative approach to technical management.
· Excellent communication and presentation skills.
· Excellent technical skills (i.e. engineering, R & D, product design/development per assigned sector or customer) to align Jabil with customer’s technology road map
· Knowledge and good understanding of Jabil and divisional site capabilities and internal/external technical service capabilities.
· Division-specific tools (BD tools, quote process, etc.) or similar
· Strong customer service skills and experience
· Proficient computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation applications
· Financial skill knowledge and aptitude (e.g. balance sheet and income statement)
· Leadership/people-management skills
· Contract knowledge and experience
· Proficiency in use of personal computers, Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word and PowerPoint), Microsoft Visio, Microsoft Project, and e-mail skills required.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
· Engineering, Management, Business or Business Development degree.
· Degree in Engineering preferred with a solid technical understanding of industry products and requirements.
· Minimum 12 years work-related experience, preferably in Engineering or Technology fields (i.e. R & D, product design/development, road map processes, etc.).
· Previous experience in a Technical Management role (or equivalent).
· Or an equivalent combination of education, training or experience.
