Technical Business Analyst
We are looking for a Technical Business Analyst to join our Fuel Payments team, supporting the delivery and evolution of our fuel card and POS gateway platforms across Europe.
This role sits at the intersection of Product, Engineering, Operations, and External Partners, translating complex business and regulatory needs into clear, actionable technical requirements. You’ll work closely with developers, QA, Ops, and partners to deliver changes safely in a high‑volume, regulated payments environment.
Experience in the fuel or payments domain is an advantage, but not required. We value strong analytical capability, technical curiosity, and the ability to operate confidently in complex systems.
Key Responsibilities
Requirements & Analysis
Elicit, analyse, and document business and technical requirements for fuel‑related initiatives (e.g. EMV enablement, settlement changes, new fuel card schemes).
Translate business needs into clear functional and non‑functional requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
Own requirements end‑to‑end, from early discovery through delivery and post‑implementation validation.
Technical Collaboration
Act as a bridge between business and engineering, working closely with developers, QA, and Ops teams.
Participate in solution design discussions, ensuring requirements are feasible, testable, and supportable.
Support impact analysis across gateway services, POS platforms, databases, interfaces, and reporting flows.
Delivery & Change
Support agile delivery by refining backlog items, participating in sprint ceremonies, and supporting demos and releases.
Work with Ops and Support teams to ensure changes are operationally ready, including documentation and handover.
Assist with production issue analysis, helping trace problems across systems and data flows.
Stakeholder Engagement
Engage with a wide range of stakeholders including Product, Engineering, Operations, Risk, Compliance, and external partners (e.g. fuel brands, vendors, acquirers).
Communicate complex topics clearly and pragmatically, adjusting depth for technical and non‑technical audiences.
Skills & Experience
Essential
Proven experience as a Business Analyst or Technical Business Analyst in a complex IT environment.
Strong ability to analyse and document end‑to‑end system flows, integrations, and data movement.
Comfortable working with:
APIs and service‑based architectures
Logs, data extracts, and basic SQL queries
Agile delivery methods (Scrum / Kanban)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Desirable (not mandatory)
Experience in payments, POS, or financial services.
Exposure to fuel cards, EMV, or transaction processing.
Familiarity with regulated environments (PCI, P2PE, audit controls).
Experience working with distributed or cross‑functional teams.
What We’re Looking For
A pragmatic problem‑solver who can handle ambiguity.
Someone comfortable operating in large, interconnected systems.
A BA who can challenge constructively, ask the right questions, and keep delivery moving.
Curiosity to learn a niche domain rather than prior fuel expertise.
Why Join Us
Work on mission‑critical payment systems used by major fuel brands across Europe.
Be part of a team modernising how we deliver change (DevOps / automation‑led).
Opportunity to shape solutions in a high‑impact, visible area of the business.
Location expectations
This role requires working from a U.S. Bank location three (3) or more days per week.
