Technical Business Analyst (Data & Analytics)

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Technical Business Analyst to join our Data & Analytics (DnA) organization. This role focuses on translating business needs into clear, actionable, and technically detailed requirements for data engineering, governance, and analytics teams. Responsibilities

  • Translate business needs into clear, technically detailed requirements, including data mappings, transformation logic, and acceptance criteria
  • Define requirements for data ingestion and integration, transformation logic and dbt models, curated/semantic data zones, and data contracts
  • Interpret and document SQL transformations, schema changes, table structures, and data quality business rules
  • Work daily with Data Engineers on Databricks pipelines and notebooks, dbt models, DAGs, and tests
  • Review pipeline logic and validate outputs for correctness, completeness, and alignment to requirements
  • Support debugging of Databricks job failures, schema drift and lineage gaps, dbt test failures, and data quality issues
  • Contribute to backlog grooming, refinement, and story scoping for data engineering squads
  • Perform process mapping and documentation of current state and future state data flows
  • Partner with Product Management, Architecture, Governance, Value Teams, and Engineering to ensure alignment and effective delivery
  • Champion data quality, metadata completeness, and governance standards across data products

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, Analytics, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, Technical Business Analyst, or Data Analyst in a data-centric environment
  • Experience working in mid-to-large enterprise data platforms with cross-functional dependencies
  • Proven ability to operate effectively in agile or iterative delivery models
  • Expert level SQL for data analysis, validation, and transformation
  • Familiarity with Databricks and dbt, including models, testing, and documentation
  • Understanding of data pipelines, orchestration, and data quality controls
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills in complex data environments
  • Ability to translate ambiguous business questions into precise technical requirements
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences
  • Detail-oriented, with a strong focus on data correctness and traceability
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, matrixed environments

Preferred

  • Familiarity with data domains in finance or procurement, workplace services, sustainability, business development, human resources
  • Experience with BI or visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau
  • Exposure to Python or R for data analysis or automation
  • Experience working with enterprise systems such as SAP, Oracle, or Anaplan
  • Advanced degrees or certifications are a plus, but not required
