The Opportunity:
Seeking a Senior Architect to lead solution architecture, MBSE, and digital engineering for the USTRANSCOM Joint Transportation Management System (JTMS), a large-scale enterprise capability integrating transportation, logistics, and financial business processes through a COTS/ERP-based modernization. This role defines and governs end-to-end architecture products, ensures traceability from mission needs through solution design, and drives digital engineering strategy aligned to DoD transformation objectives.
Responsibilities:
Architectural Leadership: Lead development and maintenance of operational, business, system, data, and integration architecture for JTMS using MBSE methodologies and DoDAF/UAF frameworks.
Systems Modeling: Develop and manage system models in SysML/UML to capture requirements, workflows, interfaces, constraints, and end-to-end mission threads with full traceability.
Digital Engineering Strategy: Drive adoption of the digital thread, authoritative model repositories, configuration management, and model-driven decision support across the program lifecycle.
Solution Design: Translate business, operational, and compliance requirements into scalable solution architectures supporting COTS/ERP implementation and enterprise integration.
Integration & Interoperability: Define integration patterns, interface specifications, data exchanges, and interoperability requirements across DoD, Service, Agency, and partner systems.
Governance & Reviews: Establish architecture governance, modeling standards, technical baselines, and design review processes; brief senior government and military leadership.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with functional, engineering, cybersecurity, test, and program teams to resolve gaps, risks, and cross-domain dependencies.
Roadmap & Transition: Contribute to technology roadmap development, transition planning, implementation strategy, and business process reengineering.
Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
7+ years of experience in enterprise/system/solution architecture for large-scale federal or DoD IT programs.
5 + years of hands-on MBSE and/or Digital Engineering experience in complex system-of-systems environments.
Experience developing architecture products using SysML, UML, and DoDAF/UAF or comparable modeling frameworks.
Experience with automated generation of technical documentation, reports, and deliverables directly from system architecture models
Proficiency with MBSE tools such as Cameo Systems Modeler (MagicDraw), Sparx EA, or equivalent.
Experience with enterprise integration, APIs/interfaces, data architecture, and requirements traceability.
Demonstrated ability to align operational and business processes with system and solution architecture.
Strong communication skills including technical briefings and architecture documentation for executive-level audiences.
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.
Desired:
Master’s degree in Systems Engineering, Enterprise Architecture, or related field.
Active DoD Secret clearance
Direct experience supporting USTRANSCOM, DoD logistics, transportation, supply chain, or ERP modernization programs.
Familiarity with digital twin, digital baseline management, and AI/ML integration within MBSE frameworks.
Experience architecting solutions that integrate COTS/ERP platforms with custom DoD systems
Demonstrated ability to extend MBSE tool capabilities through scripting, APIs, or plugins.
Experience with one or more of the following: cloud-based architectures, DevSecOps pipelines, or zero trust architectures in DoD environments (AWS GovCloud, IL4/IL5)
Knowledge of DoD acquisition lifecycle
