What does a successful Java Angular Developer do at Fiserv?
The Java Angular Developer will be responsible to build and maintain scalable, secure back-end services and responsive front-end applications, contribute to automated tests and CI/CD, and use AI-enabled developer tools responsibly to increase productivity.
What will you do:
- Develop, maintain Java-based microservices and standalone Spring Boot applications.
- Build and enhance Angular (v8+) front-end components using JavaScript/TypeScript with strong OOP practices and emphasis on code quality.
- Implement consume RESTful and SOAP web services; work with XML where required.
- Work with JPA/Hibernate and Oracle/PostgreSQL, efficient SQL and optimize queries.
- Write and maintain automated unit and integration tests using jUnit and Mockito.
- Participate in code reviews in GitLab and follow CI/CD pipelines (Maven, Jenkins, Nexus).
- Use Splunk for monitoring, logging and troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.
- Follow Agile SDLC: participate in ceremonies and contribute to Scrum/Kanban boards.
- Participate in a regular on-call rotation to support production systems.
- Collaborate across product, QA, operations teams and share technical ideas.
What you will need to have:
- 6–8 years IT experience with excellent Java knowledge (Java 8 and newer).
- Strong Spring framework experience (Spring Boot 2.x, Spring Web MVC, Spring AOP).
- Solid front-end experience with Angular (v8+) and JavaScript experience preferred.
- Good knowledge of OOP principles as applied to JavaScript and TypeScript.
- Experience with JPA/Hibernate and relational databases (Oracle 13 or PostgreSQL).
- Hands-on with RESTful and SOAP web services, XML/XSD/JAXB.
- Automated testing experience: jUnit and Mockito.
- Familiar with Git (GitLab), Maven, Nexus, Jenkins and CI/CD best practices.
- Experience with Splunk or equivalent logging/observability tooling.
- Comfortable working in an Agile environment; strong verbal and written English.
- Team player with strong collaboration and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to participate in on-call rotation.
AI-enabled developer skills:
- Familiarity with developer AI assistants (for example, GitHub Copilot or equivalent) and how to use them safely and effectively in day-to-day work.
- Generate or prototype code snippets and unit tests to speed development.
- Draft documentation, API outlines and implementation notes.
- Create or refine queries, regular expressions, and configuration snippets.
What would be great to have:
- Experience with Kafka or other streaming platforms.
- Containerization and orchestration: Docker and Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with orchestration/automation tools like Rundeck.
- Prior experience with cloud environments (AWS, Azure or GCP).
