DESCRIPTION:

Lead a team of manufacturing professionals in a quality-focused environment. Promote operational excellence while ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency in the production of scientific instruments and solutions. Support continuous improvement initiatives and cultivate a culture of innovation. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet production goals while developing team members' capabilities. Oversee daily operations including resource planning, schedule execution, and performance management to deliver products that enable our customers to make positive global impact.

Provide leadership to team members. Coach, mentor and develop Microarray Operators to achieve a high performing team that delivers consistently high-quality products and services in a safe, resources-efficient and cost-effective manner.

Responsibilities and Authorities:

Operations:

  • Lead the team in day-to-day operation to achieve operational goals
  • Manage shopfloor resources (manpower, machine and materials) to meet daily operational plans
  • Plan work and provide shopfloor materials to team members
  • Responsible to report out team performance and provide timely escalations on disruptions to shopfloor operations
  • Establish strategy and best practices to enable team to achieve department objectives. Translate annual department objectives into specific team and individual performance goals including KPIs, and to track and review them regularly. Conduct root cause analysis and take appropriate corrective actions promptly when goals are not met
  • Plan, strategize and monitor the movement of WIP (Work In Progress) and scheduled activities for maximum throughput, minimum idle time and maintain line linearity/ balancing
  • Resolve shift level escalations and manage shift to shift communication - clear passdown of line issues, outputs, follow ups, etc.
  • Manage employee relations and establish a psychological safe environment
  • Review cross team support to fulfill production build plans
  • Support department and cross team activities that delivers consistently high quality products and services in a safe, resources-efficient and cost-effective manner
  • Responsible for all aspects of an emergency response (role of SIC) which includes developing incident objectives and managing the incident action plans

Develop Capabilities:

  • Work with Manager to identify and build relevant skillset and capability within team
  • Work with peers to enhance team flexibility through cross trainings
  • Develop training plan for team including induction, on-the-job training and certification
  • Develop, support and coach team by giving timely and constructive feedbacks and empowering employees to take on higher/more responsibilities

Quality:

  • Conduct Gemba with purpose to identify pain points and area of improvements and take necessary actions to address them
  • Ensure safety, operational procedures, discipline and 5S are strictly observed and adhered to across Array Manufacturing operations, complying to site's EH&S and QMS policies/ guidelines
  • Participate/conduct and communicate manufacturing safety risk assessment
  • Ensure documentation, data and fab inventory accuracies

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Advanced Degree with no prior experience, OR Bachelor's Degree plus 2 years of manufacturing experience
  • Preferred Fields of Study: Engineering, Chemistry, or related technical field
  • 2+ years of leadership experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of GMP, ISO, and safety regulations
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach and develop team members
  • Experience with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and manufacturing software systems
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in clean room environment and wear required PPE
  • Physical requirements include standing, lifting up to 50 lbs, pushing/pulling equipment
  • Must be able to work rotating shifts including nights/weekends as needed
  • Experience with quality systems and documentation control
  • Multilingual skills beneficial for global collaboration
  • Ability to handle complex technical and personnel issues independently
  • Experience with production planning and resource management
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Commitment to workplace safety and regulatory compliance

Additional Qualifications:

  • Degree in any engineering discipline
  • Diploma with more than 3 years of relevant experience
  • Leadership role with more than 5 years' experience in a manufacturing environment

Experience:

  • 3 to 5 years' experience in a supervisory position, preferably in high volume manufacturing environment
  • More than 5 years' experience in shopfloor manufacturing planning will be considered

Competencies Preferred:

  • Team player with strong sense of responsibility and ownership
  • Able to work under pressure and make sound decision independently
  • Good supervisory skills such as leading, motivating and developing others
  • Experience using MES (e.g. Promis, Camstar) and ERP software (JDE, SAP)
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong organization and management skills
  • Familiar with ISO13485 and Current Good Manufacturing Practices
