Team Leader, Asset Servicing

The Asset Servicing Team Leader is responsible for managing a team that ensures the smooth execution of asset servicing activities. This role involves overseeing daily operations, maintaining compliance with regulatory standards, and improving processes for efficiency and effectiveness. The Team Leader also serves as a key point of contact for clients, ensuring high levels of service and satisfaction. Success in this role requires strong leadership abilities, industry knowledge, and a commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Position Responsibilities:

Team Management:

  • Lead and supervise a team of asset servicing specialists, providing guidance, support, and performance feedback.
  • Foster a collaborative and efficient team environment, promoting professional development and continuous learning.

Operational Oversight:

  • Oversee daily asset servicing operations, including corporate actions, proxy voting, income processing, and reconciliation of securities.
  • Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of all asset servicing activities, maintaining high standards of quality and compliance.

Process Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for process enhancements and implement best practices to improve efficiency and reduce operational risk.
  • Work with technology teams to develop and implement automation solutions to streamline asset servicing processes.

Client Relationship Management:

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients regarding asset servicing issues, providing exceptional service and resolving inquiries promptly.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs and ensuring their requirements are met.

Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and internal policies, staying current with industry regulations and standards.
  • Identify and mitigate operational risks, implementing controls to safeguard assets and maintain data integrity.

Reporting and Analysis:

  • Prepare and review reports on asset servicing activities, providing insights and recommendations to senior management.
  • Analyze performance metrics and key indicators to monitor team effectiveness and drive improvements.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics or any related course
  • With at least five years related work experience
  • Strong people management experience (at least 2 years) to lead, manage and develop professional staff.
  • CISI certifications, CPA/CFA designation is an advantage
  • Extensive experience in asset servicing, securities operations, or a similar function within the financial services industry.
  • Strong understanding of financial markets, securities products, and related regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in financial software and systems used in asset servicing operations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong Knowledge in securities instruments, operational processes and trade life cycle
  • Good working knowledge in using Bloomberg, BBH, Simcorp Dimension or other Custodian platforms is a plus.
  • Average to advance MS Office skills
  • Ability to manage the overall daily BAU for the team including work allocation, metrics, coverage and performance in adherence to service level agreement.
  • Able to work with Manager/Director on Global initiatives and foster continuous improvements in the team.
  • Able to lead daily huddles and calls with Business partners and Front Office to ensure escalations and urgent issues are monitored and resolved.
  • Strong Risk and Controls acumen, able to perform investigation and root cause analysis on operational incidents and assist with internal and external audit and key controls activities.
  • Skilled to perform coaching and performance management.
