Job Description

What is the opportunity?

This position is responsible for managing the daily operations and acts as a liaison for escalation and information resource for the Reconciliation Team. The primary focus is to provide leadership and vision to the team through ongoing training initiatives, ensuring controls are well understood and adhered to and to support the management team ensuring all sections of the department operate smoothly and efficiently. The incumbent will seek to maximize operational effectiveness, reinforce positive client service experience and mitigate risk. All responsibilities will be carried out in accordance with Code of Conduct, RBC Values and Standing Orders.

* Please note this position is supporting UK team. The working hours is 12pm-9pm, Mon- Fri, local time in Malaysia*

Contract Period: 19 Months

What will you do?

  • Supervises designated reconciliations ensuring all are completed  in accordance with established Service Level Agreements (SLAs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and standing orders
  • Supports the onboarding of new reconciliations, identify gaps and streamline process
  • Become a Subject Matter Expert on the reconciliations within own team
  • Support the management team in providing leadership to a diverse work team, emphasizing coaching, cross training and team work with a strong focus on superior service and support to internal and external departments/clients
  • Identify performance gaps within the team and initiate discussion with the management and team to close those gaps.
  • Assume responsibility for the training and cross training of staff and be the primary escalation contact for the reconciliation team and rec owners.
  • Ensures IT incidents are reported in a timely manner and escalated as appropriate to senior management.
  • Provide coverage for absenteeism, vacation and cross training.
  • Ensure the team fully understands the controls and how they apply to their role and review regularly for completeness, accuracy and timeliness.
  • Reports must be reviewed and signed off as described under SOPs and maintained in accessible files (by report type and month order) for senior management and/or audit review.
  • Strong knowledge of the underlying products supported and the associated processes, such a trade life-cycles, payment methods and general operating policies.
  • Proven accuracy is demonstrated to ensure true breaks are identified and investigated accordingly
  • Assume ownership to review Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to ensure completeness and accuracy, identify document changes and follow up to ensure changes are reflected in SOP’s
  • Collaborate with team to support the process of creating, updating and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)..
  • Prioritizes own workload and initiatives and assist team members as required
  • Identify service gaps and work closely with IT to maximize the usage of current systems ensuring a high level of accuracy (matching rules) is maintained for reconciliations  in IntelliMatch
  • Ensure that sufficient staff is available to cover for statutory holidays.
  • Promotes teamwork with the reconciliations team, the department and management
  • Manage small change projects and demonstrate flexibility to take on new assignments

  • Good understanding of Capital Market Products and transactional/accounting flows
  • Solid knowledge of Reconciliation Procedures.
  • Solid knowledge of key reconciliation systems and Back-Office systems e.g. IntelliMatch, Bess, RIMMS, EGL, Storqm, RATS
  • Computer literacy – i.e. Knowledge of PC’s and Microsoft – related software
  • Ability to embrace organizational change at an individual and team level
  • Demonstrate flexibility to cross train
