This position involves overseeing the Upstream Pilot Plant in Kundl utilizing both microbial and cell culture processing technologies. The candidate will lead an expert team to ensure manufacturing of USP pilot scale batches, supporting technology transfers, and improvements of our biopharmaceutical drug substance manufacturing processes and facilities to meet future needs. Job Description

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead the respective Upstream Process (USP) pilot plant (LVA) team and develop an organizational culture in line with Novartis Values and Behaviors
  • Manage assigned resources to ensure implementation of innovation and continuous improvement in upstream processing in line with performance and budget targets
  • Provide front line USP support to manufacturing (microbial and cell culture processing), working with the operative teams, focusing on upstream manufacturing technologies, upstream process transfers and continuous process improvement
  • Coordinate experimental setup and execution, act as subject matter expert and liaise with internal and external partners

Essential Requirements:

  • Education: Master’s degree in life science or bio-engineering
  • Language: English and German fluent
  • Experience: 5+ years in biotech industry, preferably in microbial fermentation processing and/or USP development
  • High learning agility, proactive mindset paired with hands-on and execution attitude with ability to drive change and make things happen
  • Excellent People Leadership skills

You’ll receive:

In accordance with Austrian law, we are obliged to disclose the minimum salary as stated in the collective bargaining agreement. For this position the minimum salary is € 78.383,90 / year (on a full-time basis).The actual salary will be significantly higher, as we strive to maintain a competitive position in the market and consider your previous experience, qualifications, and individual competencies.
