Summary of Job Duties:

The Department of Curriculum and Instruction in the College of Education and Health Professions at the University of Arkansas is seeking candidates for a nine-month Teaching Assistant Professor of Educational Technology with a specialized focus in corporate or higher education-focused instructional or learning design, advanced learning technologies, and technical skill development. The Teaching Assistant Professor of Educational Technology is a full-time, nine-month position to begin August 10, 2026. The successful candidate will join a vibrant team of faculty in a department recognized for excellence in teaching, research, faculty development, and student success.

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing students to create, design, develop, implement, and evaluate innovative, technology-driven learning solutions using industry-standard technologies such as AI, XR (immersive), learning analytics, and web-based platforms. The Teaching Assistant Professor of Educational Technology will be expected to teach four courses per semester at the graduate and undergraduate levels, in person and online including courses in instructional design, learning technologies, and educational technologies, as well as other courses in the department outside of the educational technology program; participate in student advisement and mentoring; contribute to course and curriculum development that integrates current and emerging technologies used in industry, higher education, and/or K-12 settings; develop a scholarship of teaching and learning related to development and implementation of instructional and/or learning design strategies and disseminate findings through practitioner-focused publications; and engage in service to the program, department, university, and professional organizations. Consistent on-campus presence and active engagement in departmental life are essential responsibilities, along with the ability to foster and maintain collegial and harmonious working relationships.

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • An earned doctorate from a nationally recognized and accredited institution of higher education in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Learning Experience Design, Curriculum and Instruction, or a closely related field conferred by the start of employment

  • Demonstrated experience designing, developing, and implementing learner-centered environments for corporate, higher education, and/or K-12 audiences

  • Evidence of ability to teaching university-level coursework related to instructional design, educational technology, and related areas

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ​​Evidence of successful teaching of university-level coursework in instructional design, educational technology, or related areas

  • Evidence of technical expertise in learner experience design (LXD), developing immersive and artificial intelligence applications, and learning analytics dashboards

  • Evidence of successful teaching through online platforms

  • Experience mentoring and supporting graduate students
