Job Description:
Provides a strong educational foundation in English Language Development (ELD) through the use of the WIDA Standards, Colorado Academic Standards, and CDE’s Family, School, and Community Partnerships Framework for family engagement, enabling each student to reach their full potential. Creates programming aligned to DCSD’s framework and facilitates English instruction through a collaborative, structured immersion model, incorporating co-teaching at the universal level and providing targeted and intensive language support as needed. Differentiates communication and family engagement to increase student achievement and growth.
Directly and consistently supports all assigned Multilingual Learners (MLs) in collaboration with educators and families to identify, plan for, and meet each student’s linguistic and academic strengths and needs. Employs a wide range of collaborative, coaching, translingual, and asset-based instructional and linguistic strategies to ensure equitable access and meaningful learning for all MLs.
MINIMUM EDUCATION OR FORMAL TRAINING:
- Endorsement in Linguistically Diverse Education (LDE) or Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CLD) learners; Elementary teaching license (for Elementary); Highly Qualified in Language Arts or related content area (Secondary).
LICENSES & CERTIFICATION:
- Colorado Department of Education Professional License with CLD or LDE Endorsement, or other appropriate CDE/TESOL license with the intention to obtain the CLD Endorsement. If in process of obtaining the CLD endorsement, candidates must reflect the CLD or Bilingual CLD endorsement on the license within 2 years of the date of hire.

Responsibilities:
Provide student data and collaborate with problem-solving teams to meet the unique strengths and needs of Multilingual Learners
Use instructional strategies to facilitate learning opportunities for students to demonstrate content knowledge and higher-order thinking skills.
Collaborate and partner with school personnel, students, and families
Perform other related duties as assigned or requested
Administer/assist with the administration of state and federal assessments forMultilingual Learners (e.g., ACCESS for ELLS)
Analyze student performance via a body of evidence to support instructional decisions. This includes monitoring and analyzing the linguistic and academic progress of individual students and the ELD Program as a whole. Use this student assessment data to purposefully plan lessons and to meet the differentiated needs of students.
Create and maintain MLPs for each identified Multilingual Learner
Intentionally plan and facilitate instruction that aligns with the WIDA Standards and Colorado Academic Standards and meets the linguistic needs of each Multilingual Learner
Coach and mentor teachers to support Multilingual learners in educational settings.
Identify, plan for, and serve every assigned Multilingual Learner directly and consistently
Maintain compliance procedures in accordance with district policies, state and federal laws
New ELD Teachers participate in ELD Essentials and Induction sessions as part of the onboarding process
Establish and model positive relationships with students and colleagues and differentiate interactions based on knowledge of each student and colleague.
Establish a safe, inclusive environment for all learners.
