Tax Director, Transfer Pricing

Position Overview

The Director – Transfer Pricing will report to the Senior Director – Global Tax Planning & Strategy and will be a member of a worldwide finance team that strives to be best-in-class.  We are seeking a highly-motivated and experienced individual to lead Autodesk’s global transfer pricing function.  This is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing all aspects of transfer pricing, including strategy, planning, valuations, audit defense and global compliance. 

A successful candidate will set the long term strategy for transfer pricing, guide cross border structuring initiatives, manage global risk and lead a team that executes on both strategic and operational aspects of the transfer pricing function.  The Transfer Pricing Director will work closely with senior leaders across, Tax, Finance, Legal and the business to ensure transfer pricing frameworks support business objectives.  The Transfer Pricing Director will also drive a culture of accountability and excitement within the team and will be responsible for fostering a creative, innovative team environment in which Autodesk's worldwide tax compliance and planning are completed.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Team Management

  • Lead and develop a global transfer pricing team, providing mentorship, technical guidance and career development
  • Establish operational excellence, governance standards and scalable processes for all transfer pricing activities
  • Partner with leaders in Finance, Legal and the business to develop a deep understanding of Autodesk’s business to serve as

Global Transfer Pricing Strategy and Planning

  • Own the company’s global transfer pricing strategy and ensure it aligns with our functional and IP operating model
  • Develop and lead global transfer pricing strategy and strategic projects such as business supply chain planning, business restructurings, IP integration, etc.
  • Identify new transfer pricing legislation across the globe and understand the potential impact to the Company
  • Anticipate future tax/TP challenges related to global expansion and business transformation
  • Develop transfer pricing controversy strategy and provide audit support for transfer pricing issues including analyzing local financials, identify/anticipate areas of weakness based on functional/risk analysis, and assist with preparation of audit-ready files
  • Support M&A, including preparing IP and legal entity valuations and preparing/reviewing intercompany transactions

Compliance and Operational Oversight

  • Drive the design, implementation and maintenance of global intercompany policies
  • Drive the legal entity forecasting process working with regional and corporate finance teams
  • Review intercompany agreements, ensuring that they reflect accurate functional and economic substance
  • Oversee global transfer pricing compliance, including local files, master file, benchmarking studies and CbCR support
  • Ensure transfer pricing documentation accurately reflects planning initiatives, intercompany agreements and business substance
  • Develop internal controls for global intercompany transactions and operational transfer pricing processes

Minimum Qualifications

  • 12+ years of transfer pricing experience, with significant experience in planning, structuring and audit defense
  • Advanced degree (Masters in Tax/Economics/Finance, JD/LLM); CPA or equivalent a plus
  • Experience leading transfer pricing in a multinational tech company
  • Experience integration TP strategy into broader tax and business strategy
  • Deep knowledge of corporate tax including international tax research, compliance and consulting
  • Ability to perform financial / economic analyses and build financial valuation models
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including drafting of intercompany agreements, audit responses and technical memos
  • Strong leadership skills with proven experience managing teams and external advisors
  • Ability to meet project deadlines with a focus on details
