Tax Analyst – South Korea and Vietnam

About the Role 

The purpose of this role is to ensure that the Tax Compliance processes of the South Korea market as well as the tax accounting of the Vietnam market are undertaken accurately, efficiently (utilising automation) and on time and the surrounding internal control procedures, legislative requirements are strictly adhered to. 

 

  • Ensuring that complex direct and indirect taxes and connected supplementary returns for the South Korea market are prepared according to the global standard process and controls, local DTPs, on time and utilising automation tools where applicable.  

  • Managing routine tax-related audit enquiries and tax projects for your markets in cooperation with tax manager. Acting as back-up for the tax manager upon request.  

  • Ensuring compliance with market specific regulatory requirements and legislative changes working closely with Global and Local SMEs. 

  • Providing close support of tax-related advisory topics in the scope falling under own remit.  

  • Actively managing and coordinating tax-related document retention for your markets. 

  • Taking responsibility for the day-to-day tasks required. 

  • Providing decision support for business partners through value-add analysis, thorough understanding of movements on accounts, the business reason behind those, and collection and presentation of Risk & Opportunities 

  • Ensuring smooth and accurate month-end closes 

  • Preparing  post accruals/adjustments/other required journals for the assigned markets to ensure the month-end results show a clear and fair picture 

  • Preparing quality GL reconciliations for the assigned markets, including customs & excise accounts, through deep understanding of the figures supported and reported 

  • Ensuring that financial processes are undertaken accurately, efficiently, on time and that the surrounding internal control procedures are strictly adhered to in line with CARM processes 

  • Maximizing benefits of globalized system processes 

  • Setting work priorities and in general independence of work activities 

  • Identifying and driving continuous process improvement in cooperation with the tax manager through establishing a LEAN approach to drive effectiveness and efficiency - supporting process improvements and rollout of standardised processes and automation re in scope markets. 

  • Contributing ideas, energy, enthusiasm and support to the continuous improvement of the processes. 

  • Promptly responding to market queries in respect of markets in her/his responsibility and supporting indirect tax leaders, tax managers, SMEs in non-routine questions, global projects, and during tax audits in her/his competency. 

  • Continuously maintaining excellent personal and business relationships with the market and in-house stakeholders 

  • Proactively supporting internal projects to facilitate the ongoing transformation and improvement of Diageo’s Global Tax function (including providing relevant information, answering ad hoc requests and suggesting alternative ways of working) 

 

Experience required/Skills/Capabilities/Languages 

  • University / College degree in finance / accounting / business / CPA 

  • At least 4-5 years working experience in a multinational corporate environment 

  • Proven track record in Financial Accounting / Reporting, Taxation and/or Financial Controlling experience is strongly preferred. 

  • Good understanding of the alcoholic beverage industry, including the customs & excise requirements 

  • Internal / external audit experience and/or SOX is an advantage 

  • Experience with Shared services process activities is an advantage 

  • Capable of working in a deadline driven environment.  

  • Experience of working in a multi-national financial environment  

  • Hard working personality, flexibility for adopting to change with positive attitude 

  • Fluent in English, able to communicate effectively to build strong relationships with operational staff and stakeholders 

  • Relevant experience with SAP
