Coinbase is seeking a highly motivated Tax Analyst, Global Indirect Tax to join our dynamic and fast-paced tax team. This role offers the opportunity to work in one of the most rapidly evolving industries, where every day brings new challenges and learning opportunities. 

As a Tax Analyst, Global Indirect Tax, you will collaborate directly with Coinbase’s tax controllership and compliance teams, with a primary focus on indirect tax compliance, advisory support and tax accounting. You will also work closely with the broader Coinbase Finance function, contributing to initiatives that drive continuous process improvements and help build the Coinbase indirect tax function of the future.

Our tax team is dedicated to ensuring Coinbase meets its tax obligations across all jurisdictions where we operate. This includes accurately and completely reflecting taxes in our financial statements and supporting business operations to maintain an efficient and optimized tax structure. What you’ll be doing 

  • Assist with key areas of the company’s tax controllership and compliance processes, focusing on indirect tax across multiple jurisdictions (key focus being India, UK, Ireland, Luxembourg, Singapore, Australia and Canada);
  • Provide advisory support in existing and new jurisdictions;
  • Execute on our global Indirect tax compliance obligations, where necessary working with external advisors to ensure returns and payments are made on an accurate and timely basis;
  • Gain extensive experience to indirect tax controllership processes, contributing to solutions that keep pace with regulatory and financial reporting requirements globally;
  • Prepare indirect tax financial reporting and cash tax forecasts;
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with different departments including Finance and Legal, contributing to projects that help optimize overall tax efficiency and compliance;
  • Perform critical balance sheet account reconciliations to support indirect tax GL account balances at the end of each reporting period;
  • Prepare indirect tax journal entries during the tax close process for posting;
  • Maintain compliance with internal controls, policies and procedures;
  • Maintain and enhance process documentation and procedures for all tasks, contributing and enhancing execution areas for a company that values innovation and continuous improvement;
  • Keeping up to date with indirect tax case law and legislative changes impacting the business;
  • Provide assistance and support for internal and external audits related to specific areas of responsibility

What we look for in you

  • 5+ years of global indirect tax experience, ideally with a mix at both a Big 4 accounting firm and in industry;
  • Significant experience with preparing and reviewing indirect tax returns, including VAT/GST returns including partial exemption;
  • Technical tax experience
  • Excellent speaking and communication skills while working with business teams and explaining tax concepts to both tax and non-tax audiences
  • Outstanding detail-orientation and process-orientation skills
  • Collaborative and positive orientation
  • Willingness to pivot and learn
  • Excellent analytical skills, business partnering, problem solving and prioritization skills
  • Strong work ethic and team player

Nice to haves:

  • CA or CPA preferred
  • Experience with Oracle Netsuite
  • Crypto industry experience
  • Knowledge of India GST

Pay Transparency Notice: The target annual salary for this position can range as detailed below. Full time offers from Coinbase also include bonus eligibility + equity eligibility + benefits (including medical, dental, and vision)

Pay Range:
€59.400€66.000 EUR
