Overview:
This internship is centered around professional development, career growth, and building the skills needed to succeed. Summer Interns work on meaningful projects and department initiatives that accelerate learning and contribute to the future of the Bank. You’ll gain exposure to other areas of the organization through guest speakers, industry leaders, and a built‑in peer network, along with priority consideration for full‑time opportunities across the Bank.
The team is also hoping to extend their intern beyond the 10‑week summer program into a part‑time role during the school year, offering flexible scheduling to accommodate academic commitments.
Team Overview:
This role supports the Indirect Tax team, which manages a high volume of incoming mail, tax bills, and notices that need to be scanned, organized, and addressed. The position involves providing essential administrative support, ensuring timely processing of bills and notices, and assisting with tax‑related documentation. During slower periods, there are opportunities to contribute to tax projects, support payment processing, and assist with data reviews. This is a great role for someone who is detail‑oriented and interested in gaining exposure to tax operations.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Complete duties and responsibilities of an entry-level professional nature specific to assigned area of the Bank.
- Ensure activities adhere to established internal policies and external regulations as applicable.
- Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
- Design, implement, maintain and enhance internal controls to mitigate risk on an ongoing basis. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
- Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
- Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
- Complete other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Required:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree
- Minimum Cumulative GPA of 3.0

The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation. The range listed above encompasses all geographic locations.
