Talent Acquisition Specialist - Workforce Planning
Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Workforce Planning, the Talent Acquisition Specialist is responsible for full-cycle recruitment and coordination of high-volume craft and support roles. This includes ensuring project sites are staffed efficiently, safely, and on schedule with qualified employees—creating an exceptional experience for candidates and hiring teams alike.
The Specialist will play a key role in planning and executing workforce strategies for large industrial Turnarounds, supporting the recruitment of several hundred positions across various disciplines including HSE, Administrative, QC, and skilled trades. This position works closely with field operations, forecasting teams, and site leadership to align workforce supply with project demand.
What You Will Be Working On
- Conduct full-cycle recruitment for HSE, administrative, QC, and skilled trade positions to meet the needs of complex, high-volume projects.
- Partner with operations and site leadership to plan and lead large-scale Turnaround workforce ramp-ups, ensuring timely and accurate mobilization of several hundred employees.
- Participate in forecasting and workforce planning activities, collaborating with internal teams to anticipate staffing needs and adjust sourcing strategies accordingly.
- Develop compelling and accurate job postings in collaboration with hiring teams.
- Actively source, screen, and interview candidates to ensure qualifications align with project and safety requirements.
- Schedule and track pre-employment requirements (drug and alcohol screening, certifications, etc.).
- Manage candidate pipelines and documentation within the Applicant Tracking System (ATS), ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Work closely with onboarding and mobilization teams to ensure seamless site deployment.
- Maintain complete and accurate staffing records and seniority data.
- Participate in regular planning and project readiness meetings with business leaders to stay aligned with upcoming workforce needs.
- Provide exceptional candidate and stakeholder service, ensuring a professional and timely communication process throughout recruitment.
What We Are Looking For
- Undergraduate degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field.
- RPR designation is an asset.
- 5+ years of experience in high-volume trades recruitment, including experience supporting large-scale industrial or turnaround projects.
- Experience hiring across multiple disciplines (craft, HSE, QC, administrative, and coordinator roles).
- Strong understanding of industrial workforce operations, safety, and site logistics.
- Experience using a complex ATS; Tracker is an asset.
- Familiarity with construction, oil and gas, or heavy industrial environments preferred.
- Knowledge of sourcing strategies, selection processes, and workforce planning tools.
- Solid understanding of employment legislation and site compliance requirements.
- Ability to manage competing priorities, tight deadlines, and shifting workforce demands.
- Strong relationship-building skills and a collaborative approach to teamwork.
- Excellent communication, organization, and attention to detail.
