UQ’s version of a Talent Acquisition Advisor will join our team of 25+ professionals working every day to help the University hire the greatest minds, be it a Professor, lawyer or a carpenter. We are the custodians of the recruitment policy, interpreting processes along with our Enterprise Agreement and relevant legislation to make sure everything is done quickly and efficiently. Ensuring our new hires can get along with starting their new career, here with us.
You’ll partner with hiring managers across the University to deliver smooth, organised recruitment — effortlessly coordinating interviews, schedules and logistics while providing confident, practical advice to leaders who don’t recruit every day. You’ll navigate our complex hiring environment with ease, ensuring compliance and consistency, while also knowing when to step back — understanding that our high-volume environment means we can’t fully embed in every individual process. However, you’ll set managers up for success by proactively shaping sourcing strategies and driving targeted attraction activities.
You’ll be joining a genuinely supportive team that values integrity, mutual respect, and inclusivity in our team and across the broader University. We work hard, lift each other up, and never miss the chance to share a laugh - even on our busiest days. We have two full roles available, one fixed term (June 2026) and one permanent position.
What are we looking for in our next team member?
We’re seeking an individual who can confidently manage end-to-end recruitment processes, build trust with hiring managers and strengthen relationships — while also being responsive and calm when urgent issues arise (as they do!). You’ll bring prior TA or broader HR experience, with the ability to work independently, use judgement, and know when to escalate or ask for help.
You’ll be someone who genuinely leans into training, isn’t afraid to ask questions up-front and prides themselves on having a high attention to detail to ensure hiring processes run smoothly. You’ll have experience interpreting policy and applying it with confidence — including knowing how to push back respectfully when needed — and you’ll be comfortable working in Workday or quickly navigating between multiple systems in a complex environment.
The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including: right to work in Australia and criminal check. You must maintain unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this appointment to apply. Employer sponsored work rights are not available.
