Job Summary

Synechron is seeking an experienced Lead Tableau and QlikView Data Analyst to oversee the migration and development of comprehensive dashboards and reports. This role involves transforming existing QlikView reports into interactive Tableau dashboards, designing scalable data models, and optimizing reporting workflows to support data-driven decision-making. The ideal candidate will demonstrate deep expertise in Tableau, SQL, and data visualization best practices, while providing technical leadership and aligning analytics solutions with business objectives.

Software Requirements

Required:

  • Strong experience in Tableau Desktop and Tableau Prep (latest versions or recent releases).

  • Advanced proficiency in SQL for creating reports, data models, and data extraction scripts.

  • Experience in designing, developing, and deploying dashboards, reports, and data models.

  • Familiarity with scripting and automation, with potential integration of Python scripts into Tableau workflows.

  • Experience with version control (e.g., Git) and CI/CD pipelines (using tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or TeamCity).

  • Knowledge of data warehousing concepts, star/snowflake schemas, and multi-dimensional data models.

Preferred:

  • Experience in ClickHouse and Starburst environments.

  • Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS for deploying and managing BI solutions.

  • Knowledge of Python libraries related to data processing and automation.

  • Experience with scheduling reports, subscriptions, and background job management in Tableau.

Overall Responsibilities

  • Lead the migration of existing QlikView reports into Tableau dashboards, ensuring fidelity and usability.

  • Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-level Tableau dashboards that present complex data in an accessible manner.

  • Build and optimize data models with robust SQL scripts supporting reporting needs.

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, data engineers, and architecture teams to gather requirements and design scalable BI solutions.

  • Implement best practices for dashboard performance, security, and governance.

  • Develop automated workflows for report refreshes, data loads, and scheduled subscriptions.

  • Conduct root cause analysis on data discrepancies and system performance issues, providing actionable solutions.

  • Stay current with Tableau feature updates, best practices, and industry trends, recommending innovative enhancements.

Performance outcomes:
Reliable, performant dashboards that enable informed strategic and operational decisions, with optimized data workflows and high levels of user engagement.

Technical Skills (By Category)

Programming Languages:

  • Essential: SQL, Python (for scripting, automation, and integration)

  • Preferred: JavaScript or other scripting languages for dashboard enhancements

Data & Database Management:

  • Essential: SQL, Data modeling (star/snowflake schemas)

  • Preferred: NoSQL databases and cloud data warehouse management

BI & Visualization Tools:

  • Essential: Tableau Desktop, Tableau Prep

  • Preferred: ClickHouse, Starburst, or similar environments

Cloud Technologies:

  • Preferred: AWS or Azure for hosting and managing BI solutions

Development & Automation Tools:

  • Essential: Git, CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, TeamCity)

  • Preferred: Docker, Kubernetes

Data Security & Governance:

  • Understanding of data access controls, security best practices, and compliance standards.

Experience Requirements

  • At least 6+ years supporting enterprise BI initiatives, including dashboard development and report migration.

  • Demonstrated success in designing, deploying, and optimizing large-scale Tableau dashboards.

  • Proven experience translating business needs into scalable data visualizations.

  • Hands-on expertise in SQL query development, data modeling, and data warehouse environments.

  • Experience working in Agile teams, managing multiple projects, and leading technical initiatives.

Day-to-Day Activities

  • Lead the migration and development of dashboards and reports from QlikView to Tableau.

  • Design and optimize data models supporting various business functions.

  • Develop and automate data extraction, transformation, and loading workflows.

  • Conduct code reviews, performance tuning, and security reviews of dashboards and data pipelines.

  • Collaborate closely with business analysts, data engineers, and IT teams to align requirements and deliver efficiencies.

  • Monitor scheduled refreshes, manage subscriptions, and troubleshoot data loads.

  • Document architecture, process workflows, and best practices for ongoing support.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, or a related field.

  • 8+ years' experience in BI development, report migration, and data visualization with Tableau.

  • Proven expertise in SQL, data modeling, and BI best practices.

  • Certifications in Tableau or BI tools are an advantage.

  • Strong communication skills for stakeholder engagement and technical documentation.
