We are looking for a Systems Technician to join our training team in Poland.

What you will be doing

The Training & Simulation business unit develops and manufactures training systems, primarily for military users. We offer a wide range of products and services, including world-leading laser simulators for live training, force-on-target applications, virtual simulations and training services. Training & Simulation operates globally, employing over 650 people in many countries, and we are currently expanding our operations with new training facilities in Poland.

Your role

In this position, you will work at our training centre in Podkarpackie Province. You will receive comprehensive training to become an expert in all aspects of the Saab laser simulation system and its wide range of applications and subsystems. This system is crucial for providing simulation and training support to soldiers, and you will play a key role in organising training at the training centre.

You will report directly to the facility manager, who will work with you at the training centre and have overall responsibility for the delivery of training services. He will also be your liaison with Saab Training & Simulation's headquarters in Huskvarna, Sweden. You will work in a team where each member has specific skills and responsibilities.

As a systems technician, you will play a key role in ensuring that all communication equipment connected to our simulators is maintained, distributed and configured in such a way as to provide our customers with the best possible training experience. You must be open, loyal and honest, trust your colleagues and honour agreements, decisions and processes.

This position is suitable for a high-calibre telecommunications/systems engineer with a strong analytical approach and the ability to find practical and pragmatic solutions under pressure. Experience in repairing, maintaining and managing field equipment is essential. A drone licence and skills would be an advantage in this role.

The main responsibilities will include:

  • Maintenance of all communication and connectivity equipment at the training centre in accordance with the support manager's plan.

  • Maintenance of all communication management equipment: Exercise Control (Excon) at the location in accordance with the Site Manager's plan.

  • Maintaining a configuration log of all communications and Excon equipment at the training centre.

  • Coordinating with the technical support manager in Sweden to ensure that the correct configurations are installed.

  • Participation in pre-exercise planning meetings and reconnaissance, advising on all aspects of Excon communication and functionality.

  • Performing relevant technical work prior to trainings.

  • Be prepared to participate in overseas business travels.

  • Supporting training at the training centre as a specialist responsible for the functionality of all communication equipment.

  • Presenting a post-exercise technical report (PXR) after each CTC exercise.

  • Assisting with general tasks as required by the Site Manager.

  • Supporting Saab's marketing activities as required.

  • Assisting with staff training.

  • Provide information needed to evaluate team members' performance as required.

  • Support other Saab activities as required.

Skills and experience

  • Analytical IT and technical skills enabling the identification of faults in communication and IT systems and their effective repair.

  • Strong technical interest and ability to analyse problems and quickly find solutions that ensure the continuity of our simulation systems.

  • Strong motivation and action-oriented attitude, with a focus on task completion.

  • Fluent spoken and written English.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Category B driving licence (B+E preferred)

  • Willingness to travel abroad without restrictions.

  • Experience in repairing, maintaining and managing communications equipment is desirable.

  • Possession of a licence and skills in operating drones will be an additional advantage in this job.
