WHAT’S SO AMAZING ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY 

As a Systems Performance Engineer, based at a significant client site in Tarneit, Melbourne, you’ll be at the heart of optimising some of the most advanced automated materials handling systems in the industry. This role blends control systems expertise, data analytics, and customer engagement, giving you the opportunity to turn complex operational data into meaningful performance improvements.

You will work hands‑on with Warehouse Control System (WCS) and PLC data to monitor system health, diagnose faults, and measure performance against functional specifications and contractual KPIs. Developing insightful dashboards and analytics, prepare clear performance reports, and collaborate directly with customer operations and maintenance teams to deliver practical recommendations that improve system reliability, throughput, and operational efficiency.

This is a highly visible role where your insights directly influence system performance, customer satisfaction, and long‑term value creation. You’ll continuously identify optimisation opportunities, develop technical solutions, and help customers get the best possible performance from their automation investments.

  • Hours of Work: Monday to Friday

WHAT YOU WILL BE WORKING ON

  • Provide second level technical support  

  • Develop and maintain performance dashboards and analytics  

  • Monitor, analyse, report on machine faults, trends, root causes, and operational impact

  • Analyse WCS and PLC data to identify performance risks and optimisation opportunities

  • Assess system performance against functional specifications, KPIs, and contractual service levels

  • Align system performance with logistics operations, SKU profiles, and production flows

  • Support and troubleshoot industrial and IT network interfaces between equipment, WCS, customer systems

  • Perform regular system diagnostics and deliver clear, professional performance reports

  • Provide technical guidance and performance insights to operations and maintenance teams

  • Prepare test plans, manuals, and technical documentation

  • Build strong customer relationships, translating operational challenges into actionable insights

  • Deliver training to customer and Dematic personnel

  • Resolve or escalate system issues, working closely with the Customer Incident Management team

  • Report on equipment not performing to design specifications

  • Contribute to revenue opportunities and support sales activities

  • Ensure compliance with OHS&E standards

Tasks and Qualifications:

SETTING YOU UP FOR SUCCESS  

  • Degree qualified: Systems Engineering or Computer / Electrical / Mechatronics or related disciplines

  • 2+ Years Systems Engineering experience

  • Knowledge of Material Handling, order fulfillment and warehouse automation

  • Experience in design and delivery of complex material handling systems

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage confidently in customer facing environments

  • High attention to detail with a structured, analytical approach

  • Ability to work independently and without close supervision

  • Willingness to participate in after-hours support when required

  • Valid Driver's license

  • Working Rights: Citizen or PR
