Systems & Network Support Administrator

Position Summary

The IT Support and Systems Administrator is responsible for ensuring the seamless operation, security, and availability of the organization’s IT infrastructure, both on premises and in the cloud. This role provides comprehensive technical support to end-users, maintains and optimizes servers and network systems, and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system performance and user experience.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Technical Support and Troubleshooting:

  • Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues efficiently.

  • Deliver comprehensive desktop support to all users.

  • Provide user training to enhance system utilization and overall efficiency.

  • Minimize system downtime through proactive maintenance and monitoring.

System & Network Administration

  • Maintain servers, including capacity management, patching, and provisioning of new servers.

  • Administer and maintain both on-premises and cloud-based server environments to ensure optimal performance, security, and availability.

  • Manage network infrastructure, including cabling, VLAN configurations, and troubleshooting.

  • Support the setup and deployment of new network infrastructure.

Policy and Security Compliance:

  • Adhere to ZEISS network policies and security requirements.

  • Implement IT policies.

  • Monitor system health.

  • Ensure successful completion of backups by following the company’s backup policy and retention schedule, including performing regular test restores to verify data integrity and recovery capability.

Process Improvement and Documentation:

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of IT support processes to enhance user experience.

  • Document all system changes and activities to maintain transparency and traceability.

  • Submit monthly IT performance and status reports to the Head of IT.

Collaboration and Mentorship:

  • Participate in network meetings with Corporate IT to align projects and updates.

  • Mentor and guide junior IT staff.

  • Collaborate with corporate IT teams to ensure that technology solutions align with the organization’s operational and strategic objectives.

  • Assist the Head of IT as required.

Job Requirements:

Education / |Professional Certification

  • Degree/ Diploma / National Certificate

  • IT Systems, Network Administration, or similar fields, combined with practical experience.

a. Acceptable alternative:

Networking & Infrastructure:

  • CompTIA Network+

  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)

  • Microsoft Certified: Windows Server / Azure Administrator

b. Systems & Servers:

  • Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator (MD-100 / MD-101)

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals / Azure Administrator

  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP) – if virtualization involved

c. IT Service Management:

  • ITIL Foundation (IT service management best practices)

Experience

  •  3–5 years of experience in IT support, systems administration, or network administration.

  •  Proven experience in managing on-premises and cloud-based server environments, including provisioning, patching, and performance optimization.

  •  Hands-on experience with network infrastructure, including cabling, VLAN configuration, troubleshooting, and  deployment.

  •  Experience in desktop support, user training, and providing timely technical assistance to end-users.

  •  Familiarity with backup strategies, disaster recovery, and IT compliance to ensure data integrity and business continuity.

  •  Exposure to IT projects and process improvement initiatives, such as system upgrades, migrations, or workflow optimization.

  • Experience collaborating with corporate IT teams, vendors, and internal departments to deliver IT solutions aligned with business needs.

  • Practical knowledge of VoIP systems, security best practices, and IT policy enforcement.
