The Boeing Training Solutions team is seeking a simulator engineering manager to lead our global team of campus simulator engineers, responsible for engineering support and technical oversight of Boeing’s extensive network of commercial Flight Simulator Training Devices (FSTDs). Candidate will plan, develop and direct engineering work throughout the full lifecycle of Boeing simulators from new airplane simulator acquisition programs to the maintenance and update of legacy devices. 

Position Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and provide oversight of global engineering resources and technical approaches to support simulator issues, updates and modifications, special projects, and new acquisitions across the global network.

  • Build, manage, develop, motivate and grow a diverse and global campus simulator engineering team.

  • Develop and maintain relationships and partnerships with customers, training stakeholders, peers, partners, regulators and direct reports. Maintain synchronization with multiple management stakeholders in a matrix style organization, and across various business functions.

  • Provide cost estimates and maintain budgets for engineering activities. Establish, track and manage metrics and goals for cost, schedule, quality, and customer/stakeholder satisfaction.

  • Principal stakeholder driving the lifecycle change management process for Boeing simulators, ensuring they are representative of production airplanes, customer configurations, regulatory changes, and capable of performing 24/7 global training to customers.

  • Ensure engineering processes and execution of work align to the Boeing Simulator Operations Quality Manual. Lead processes documentation and process improvement projects to achieve business goals and drive first time quality.

  • Perform efficiently in a fast-paced, challenging, and diverse work environment.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)

  • 10+ years of experience in the development, operation, and/or engineering maintenance of commercial flight simulators.

  • Working knowledge of industry simulator architectures, simulator global regulations, and simulator operational processes and practices.

  • Experience in a technical lead or management role, with demonstrated ability to collaborate with a diverse and global team

  • Candidates must have at least one year of experience in a leadership role (team leader, temp manager, large scale cross functional project/program management, or formal manager experience) OR have completed the Boeing internal course “Exploring Leadership”

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Engineering Degree
  • Simulator systems and/or software engineering background

  • Familiarity with Boeing aircraft systems, crew operational procedures, and Boeing technical documentation

  • Experience with simulator requirements management, acquisition, and acceptance processes.
