We are looking for you to join our team as a Systems Engineering Manager 1 (Front-Line Manager), 100% on-site at our Linthicum, MD location.
What You’ll get to Do:
As an integral part of our Engineering & Sciences leadership team you will support the Systems Engineering discipline on the Sensor Systems team. You will provide both engineering functional leadership and technical project execution leadership while overseeing approximately 5-8 engineers. Individuals in this team work across several Baltimore, MD based programs. The position would functionally lead a team of engineers and Subject Matter Experts in the areas of Electronic Warfare (EW), Radar Modes, or Advanced Algorithms and Trackers.
In this Systems Engineering Manager 1 role, you will also be expected to perform productive (direct charge) work on programs in addition to functional management duties. It is anticipated that given the size of this team, the candidate will spend ~80% of their time on programs in a technical/leadership role, and ~20% of their time in the functional role. This leader must be able to create a culture of well-being, inclusion and engagement that attracts, retains, and enables a high performing workforce.
Functional Roles & Responsibilities:
Lead staff based on goals, objectives, and company policies.
Provide engineering staffing to programs.
Ensure adherence to established engineering processes and guidelines used by the department
Manage workload forecasting including hiring and developing new engineering talent.
Prepare, manage, and conduct Quarterly Connections.
Support the management of the department budget and support compensation planning.
Ensure training to staff on Engineering Tools required to support their programs.
Collaborate with peer managers to ensure consistency across multiple work groups.
Lead or support department initiatives, technology roadmap creation, cross-campus/sector involvement, and IRAD project leadership.
Support and lead engineering organization efforts aimed towards skill and career development; continuous improvement; and growth.
Program Roles & Responsibilities:
Manage engineering support to programs.
Perform productive work on programs which could include specific engineering tasking related to your subject matter expertise, Integrated Product Team (IPT) leadership, and Cost Account Management (CAM) support.
Collaborate with peer managers to ensure consistency across multiple work groups.
Support writing technical specifications, Statements of Work (SOWs), design reviews (e.g. SRR, SDR, PDR, CDR, TRR, TIMs, etc.) and capture/proposal activities.
Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external customers as needed for leadership roles on programs
Develop proposal inputs and review proposal content for both internal and external customers in the domain area of support
This position is contingent upon the successful transfer of an active U.S. Government Secret Clearance.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of experience, a Master’s degree with 3 years of experience or a PhD with 0 years of experience in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems or related technical fields; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
U.S Citizenship is required.
A current/active U.S. Government Secret Clearance
Experience in the Domain Systems Engineering areas of Tracking and Algorithms, Radar Modes and/or Electronic Warfare
Experience in establishing and maintaining customer and/or program communications.
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degrees in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity, or related technical fields.
Active Top Secret Clearance or higher.
Experience leading groups of 5+ in a functional, programmatic (development and/or production), or technical capacity.
Knowledge of hiring, staffing, engineering metrics, training resources, processes, and tools, evidenced by at least 2 years of practical application.
Experience in the functional management of an engineering organization.

Primary Level Salary Range: $127,000.00 - $190,600.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
