Summary
The Director of Systems Engineering is responsible for the overall technical, fiscal, and schedule performance of the Systems Engineering department in support of corporate strategic objectives. Must have leadership capabilities for technical management of simulation and training programs, with detailed knowledge of Systems and Software Engineering practices and methodologies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Direct responsibility for execution of tasks assigned to the Systems Engineering department, including technical oversight, and financial and schedule performance.
Success of strategic goals including corporate fiscal performance, local and Global Engineering initiatives, and Strategic Business Objectives (SBO’s).
Resource management within Systems Engineering, including training and career development.
Provide a highly engaged work environment for department team members.
Supervisory and performance responsibility for direct reports, and oversight of performance of secondary reports.
Engineering leadership over the Lead to Award (L2A) process through both supervision and direct participation in proposal writing, proposal and solution review, and costing.
Continuous improvement of department performance through processes improvement, tool identification and development, and other initiatives
Monitoring and implementation of Systems Engineering industry trends and best practices.
Oversight of execution in compliance with company policies and procedures.
Active communication and status reporting of all above items with Engineering Director and Senior Leadership
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Aerospace, or a related field.
Minimum 10 years of experience working in an Engineering discipline.
Minimum 5 years of experience in defense programs.
Sufficient understanding of business concepts to effectively manage budget and schedule performance · Understanding of simulation hardware and software architecture, components, and technology.
Experience with Systems Engineering, Software Development, Hardware / Software Integration and product testing.
Eligible for a US DoD Security Clearance · Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong motivation, leadership, and team building skills.
Ability to effectively manage technical teams.
Excellent problem solving, situational assessment, and conflict resolution skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously through proper delegation skills and selective personal involvement · Ability to motivate and facilitate effective change.

Previous experience as a Systems Engineering Manager
Master’s Degree in Systems Engineering
Security Responsibilities
Must comply with all company security and data protection / usage policies and procedures. Personally responsible for proper marking and handling of all information and materials, in any form. Shall not divulge any information, or afford access, to other employees not having a need-to-know. Shall not divulge information outside company without management approval. All government and proprietary information will be accessed and stored electronically on company provided resources.
Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance.
Due to U.S. Government contract requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this role.
Work Environment
Duties performed in an office environment and manufacturing facility.
Must be able to work overtime on and off-shifts as required.
The employee is on call 24x7 for the resolution of problems and issues.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Must be able to travel both domestic and internationally.
Must be familiar with and be able to work on simulation training devices.
Must be able to work overtime and off-shift.
