Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Systems Engineer - Level 3 to support the GPI program’s Test & Evaluation (T&E) Integrated Product Team (IPT) for the Glide Phase Interceptor (GPI) program.  The T&E IPT has whole landscape ownership of program test campaign through Initial Operational Capability (IOC). T&E IPT is accountable to ensure ground and flight test hardware is ready for test execution and post test data certification. Seeking candidate that has strong technical depth in test and evaluation with emphasis in using environmental requirements and systems specifications to forge test requirements of component, subsystem, and system.

This position is 100% on site in Chandler, AZ.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work with the T&E IPT Lead to compile data products that support GPI’s execution of the Technology Maturation and Risk Reduction (TMRR) path to IOC.  This includes assisting in major program artifacts such as the Verification Execution Plan (VEP), Test Execution Plan (TEP), Analysis Execution Plan (AEP) Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) input, and Hardware Utilization Matrix (HUM).  Focus for this candidate will be the VEP and TEP.

  • Support T&E IPT ownership of the development and maturity of the VEP, TEP, and HUM to include units under test, software configuration, special test equipment, and software for special test equipment.  These customer deliverable artifacts will represent the test and evaluation landscape of the program.

  • Work with hardware responsible engineers to establish the qualification test strategy tracing requirements to verification events including performance model anchoring in support of integrated system performance path to IOC.

  • Bridge the Systems Engineering Integration & Test (SEIT) Verification and Validation (V&V) “V” process through test execution.  This includes working closely in support of deriving All Up Round (AUR) Environments and helping architect path to efficient Qualification / Environmental Navy Certification path to IOC.

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) with 5 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in STEM with 3 years of related engineering experience

  • Interim Secret DoD security clearance, or higher – Most work is performed in a closed area

  • Demonstrate knowledge of Systems Engineering life cycle from concepts through production and sustainment.

  • Experience in developing test requirements based on system specifications and system engineering requirement derivation.

  • Self-starter that can work with minimal guidance with the confidence to successfully engage, direct, and educate hardware leads on how they fit into the overall master test plan.  This includes engineering, design verification, risk reduction, qualification, and certification testing that is specific to their hardware and ultimately augmenting the systems test.

  • Capability to clearly communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical personnel. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active US DoD Secret security clearance, or higher.

  • Systems Engineering background with test and evaluation experience. 

  • Willingness to work fast paced development programs

  • Experience with tailoring and test planning to SMC-S-016 guideline

  • Experience creating testing and maturation roadmaps to achieve a demonstrated TRL level

  • Experience in the development of test requirements and constraints to ensure test resources are necessary and sufficient to meet program testing requirements.

Primary Level Salary Range: $95,300.00 - $142,900.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
