Northrop Grumman's Defense Systems division is seeking a Systems Engineer to join  our Whisper program team in Stafford, Virginia. The Whisper program focuses on a sophisticated antenna-based RF transmission and receiving network platform, utilizing command and control software to manage multiple systems globally.

 

 

Responsibilities:

- Support Network Operations and Maintenance

- provide technical support on large antenna platforms and associated equipment in the generation of Radio Frequency (RF) signals and communications systems

- Provide systems engineering support for the lifecycle management of RF signal transmission and receiving systems

- Analyze problems with existing equipment, design and implement corrective actions and modifications

- Evaluate customer requirements, determine existing system capability to meet requirements and define, design, develop and implement system changes to meet requirements that are not met by the existing system

- RF test methods

- Use and operate test equipment to include: spectrum analyzer, oscilloscope, power meter, signal generator, pulse generator, multi-meter or Digital Volt Meter (DVM), fiber optic testers

- Troubleshoot equipment problems, isolating causes and taking proper action to resolve problems

- Perform corrective maintenance and integrate approved equipment modifications into the existing customer baseline

- Support Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), recapitalization efforts from system requirements, cost and schedule to the development, integration, and testing of replacement systems

 

 

Basic Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree with 5 years of exp or a Master's degree with  3 years of exp; or  High School diploma / Equivalent  with 9 years of exp may be accepted  in lieu of degree

- Electronics experience such as: Navy [CTM] Cryptologic Technician Maintenance, [ET] Electronic tech, [FCT] Fire control Tech or Army 35T series MOS our other similar experience

- Ability to climb ladders and use personnel lifts for heights to approximately 50 feet (using approved fall protection equipment), ascend and descend ~60 feet of stairs

- Ability to install and uninstall (lift) devices weighing 50 pounds

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and technical writing skills

- Valid driver’s license

- Shift – 1st shift with rotating weekend supports (~every 14 weeks)

- Favorable SECNAV 5512 for visitor base access 

- TS SCI clearance with the ability to obtain a CI Poly  

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering

- RF engineering and technologies

- Microwave engineering and technologies

- Presenting technical and management level briefings

- Developing test methods to characterize signals and performance

Primary Level Salary Range: $114,000.00 - $171,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
