We are seeking an experienced Systems Architect and engineer with a proven track record of designing and delivering large-scale platform architectures across both on‑premise and cloud environments. This role directly supports mission-critical military operations and requires deep expertise in modern software development ecosystems, DevSecOps practices, and secure multi‑tenant system design.
As a Systems Architect on our team, you will work with Booz Allen colleagues and the military onsite to develop and deploy the next generation of Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) ground systems capabilities to deliver critical information to our warfighters to quickly win or even prevent future wars. The ideal candidate thrives in complex, highly integrated environments with numerous external interfaces and can translate operational needs into resilient, scalable, and secure technical solutions. In this role, you will serve as a trusted subject matter expert to the client, providing authoritative guidance throughout the system lifecycle. This includes supporting requirements development to ensure mission needs are accurately captured, participating in and leading design reviews to validate architectural alignment, and delivering well‑founded recommendations on system architecture that drive modernization, interoperability, and long‑term sustainability.

You Have:
10+ years of experience developing system architectures, Agile methodologies planning, and on-prem hardware and executing system integration of complex space or ground systems
Experience supporting space, ground, software, or hardware system Major Defense Acquisition Programs
Experience architecting and implementing cloud-based solutions and cloud-based development
Experience supporting overall engineering integration of systems engineering and integration efforts for the DoD, government agencies, or commercial programs
Experience with containerization and orchestration using tools such as Kubernetes or OpenShift and Agile methodologies or the software development lifecycle (SDLC)
Knowledge of networking and external interface integration
Knowledge of zero‑trust principles and cybersecurity frameworks
Ability to lead technical teams and communicate effectively with stakeholders
Secret clearance
Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering, Mathematics, or Computer Science field
Nice If You Have:
Experience with OPIR or Missile Warning Operations
Experience with risk assessments and threat modeling techniques
Knowledge of DoD 5000.01/02
TS/SCI clearance
Master’s degree in an Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or equivalent technical field
Security+ or Cloud Certification, including AWS Certification
Certified Solutions Architect Associate, Google Certified Professional - Cloud Architect, or MCSE: Cloud Platform and Infrastructure Certification
Clearance:

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $86,900.00 to $198,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
