Systems Analysis Sr Advisor - Remote

Candidates who reside within 50 miles of the following locations may be asked to work in person on a hybrid schedule (three days per week): Bloomfield, CT, Chattanooga, TN, Denver, CO, St Louis, MO, or Scottsdale, AZ.

The Systems Analysis Sr Advisor is responsible for assessing intake requests, business requirements elicitation, interfacing with solution, enterprise and application architects with respect to the solutions when there are technical dependencies,  representing the requirements to ensure business objectives are properly described and understood, partnering with capability management to ensure the work is defined properly, ensuring our operations partners are aware of and can support the changes in the environment, providing support to operational and capability readiness.  Ideally, we would fill this role and onboard the individual prior to the enterprise facilitated portfolio process (typically the May / June timeframe).  The role partners closely with Intake, Strategy and Planning, and the Work Effort Governance and Orchestration Office.

Role Summary 

Projects are often large in scope, typically cross-functional, involving combinations of platforms and technology. The resources provide comprehensive consultation to business unit and IT management and staff, analyzes requirements and provides support to address complex business.   Prepares needed documentation that facilitate understanding and needs of the business as requirement..  Consults with PMs, SMs, RTEs, Solution Engineers and other management on approaches to address business needs or opportunities.  Provides linkage, transparency and continuity to business units, development, operations and technical support groups in the testing and implementation of recommendations

Responsibilities 

  • Must be able to perform in the capacity of a Product Owner, Team Member, Product Manager or other Agile Roles as identified.
  • Mentor, guide and train Analysts within organization and across CIGNA.
  • Proven ability to quickly learn the trust of sponsors and key stakeholders; mobilize and motivate teams; set direction and approach; resolve conflict; deliver tough messages with grace; execute with limited information and ambiguity
  • Champion improvement, adoption, implementation, and execution of processes.
  • Should be able to facilitate joint socialization and refinement (business rules, data needs, mappings, analysis, initial options for high level design) and knowledge transfer sessions with all applicable teams
  • Work closely with project, systems, business and quality assurance stake holders.
  • May be required to participate in tools evaluations, demonstrations and selection.
  • Serving as the primary point of contact for and facilitating understanding of business needs and information socialization sessions and authoring as needed by the specific team
  • Must show the ability to facilitate discussions in order to elicit business needs from diverse, cross-functional resources and to challenge and raise the bar to ensure that we are doing the right thing for CIGNA and our customers.
  • Analyze business needs/requests to address complex business needs (projects are often technically difficult, requiring innovative and creative solutions and frequently involve multiple platforms, software, hardware, technologies and tools).
  • Understand not only the project technical architecture, but is also accountable for providing linkage to overall Business and IT Strategic objectives. Help to make decisions about the feasibility of various options that are in alignment with strategic goals. 

Problem Solving

  • Must demonstrate through prior experience the ability to solve business problems and to translate those resolutions into something that is consumable by multiple audiences.
  • Must demonstrate through prior experience the ability to balance top-down versus bottom-up analysis
  • Highly preferred that candidates have subject matter expertise in Healthcare business capabilities and processes.

Solid and Proven Analyst Toolkit

  • Must show the ability to communicate with all levels of resources from entry-level operational resources to mid-level executives
  • Must show the ability to develop crisp documentation and written communications that show a strong grasp of the English language
  • Must have a solid grasp of all Microsoft Office Products including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Project and Visio
  • Must show the ability to facilitate discussions in order to elicit business needs from diverse, cross-functional resources
  • Must be comfortable working with significant ambiguity and driving teams towards specificity
  • Must show the ability to influence various resources to arrive at proper outcomes
  • Must be comfortable working under pressure
  • Exposure to RUP, Six Sigma or other methodologies and tools is a plus
  • Must be able to demonstrate through prior experience the ability to solve complex business problems that can range from strategic to tactical
  • Must show the ability to apply the appropriate methods, tools and skills to arrive at the right outcomes for a given situation
  • Development or customization of appropriate deliverables
  • Tools or techniques for: Journey maps, story-boarding,  mind-mapping, prioritizing


If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.

For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 119,400 - 199,000 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.

This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.
