Our Headquarters are located on the Torrey Pines Mesa, in La Jolla, California at the center of the biotech hub. Our Manufacturing facility is in Sorrento Valley.POSITION SUMMARY:
The Systems Administrator will support our talented and organized internal IT team to drive our on-site systems, platforms and associated infrastructure to deliver high quality, rapid IT solutions and support. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to continue building your engineering ability, solidifying and supporting a cutting-edge, growing environment. You will apply technical skills and creativity in support of Next Gen Sequencing (NGS) instrument development for Singular Genomics platforms. This role reports to the Director of Information Security. This position is on-site, 8-5pm. The position may require some flexible shift changes as discussed workload arises.
RESPONSIBILITIES:- Lead daily operations of the enterprise IT systems footprint, ensuring best practice setup, design and a compliant focus in configuring and running production platforms.
- Provide training to new IT staff, and associated personnel
- Manage active directory forests, domains, OUs, users and groups as well as group policy objects (GPOs) and related access controls
- Manage EntraID platforms and hybrid AD operations inclusive of policies, both conditional and standard
- Manage and control Microsoft Intune environment, and related RMM platforms such as NinjaOne, JAMF and other associated systems
- Perform server and end user patching, updates, configuration reviews, and related performance improving processes
- Monitors system performance, resources and capacity to ensure availability and support lifecycle planning
- Manage and support system changes, upgrades in accordance with global change management processes and policy
- Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 service desk support as needed, occasionally stepping in as Tier 1 where needed
- Develop and maintain system documentation, KBs, baseline configuration and technical knowledge articles
- Onboards, Offboards and Images machines while providing logistical support for end user workstation deployment.
- Performs system and hardware diagnostics, manages end user hardware rollouts and configuration
- Participates in escalation support and connecting users who need assistance to solutions.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's Degree or Certification in IT, Information Systems or related.
- 2+ years of working in IT Operations or Customer Support
- Prior Life science experience, diagnostics or laboratory experience is preferred
- Resourcefulness, critical thinking and problem-solving aptitude
- Excellent working knowledge and hands-on experience on managing computer systems and servers, security, network, system administration, database, and data storage systems.
- Strong & motivated willingness to learn, handle tasks and be a “self-starter”
- Knowledge of Linux administration, commands and interaction is preferred
- Knowledge of JAMF, Intune, Powershell, Azure AD/EntraID, Okta and/or other enterprise authentication & system management platforms is required
- Advanced active directory forest/domain, GPO and conditional access infrastructure experience is required
- Knowledge of enterprise networking is required, a familiarity with Cisco/Juniper technologies and CLI is preferred
- 2-3+ years of experience in Microsoft windows Server OS administration
- 2-3+ years of demonstrated ability to solve issues with innovative solutions.
- Ability to self-manage day to day tasks without direct attention.
- Prior experience with a IT ticketing system such as Zendesk, Samange, Jira or other
- Able to analyze customer needs and reach acceptable solutions including de-escalation of attitudes when needed for quality customer service
- Able to maintain confidentiality of information, systems, and employees.
- Experience administering AzureAD, Okta, Microsoft AD, ADFS, DNS, DHCP or similaR.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- Previous experience with laboratory/diagnostic company/life science growth and expansion both in the US and global
- Prior experience as part of a IT buildout team or similar within start-up environment
- Knowledge and application of multi-operating systems including Windows, Mac, Linux/Unix and SAN platforms.
- Experience using and/or troubleshooting cloud datacenters such as AWS or Azure.
The estimated base salary range for this role based in the United States of America is: $80,700 - $97,200. Additionally, this role is eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and may receive equity as part of the compensation package. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Should the level of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable salary range may be updated accordingly.
