Purpose

This role provides collaborative, cross-functional expertise and specialized technical support to effectively manage the client-side fleet (including desktops, laptops, printers, mobile devices, student labs, classroom computers, etc) using systems management tools, services, processes, and practices to enable compliance, security, and ease of support.

Responsibilities

  • Under limited supervision, develop and manage tools, services, and processes for the effective management of our customers end-point devices, including systems management, image creation and deployment, OS and application patch management, application of security policies, directory management, backup management, printer management, compliance reporting and knowledge management.

  • Under limited supervision, develop and manage the tools, services, and processes for the effective management, maintenance, and operation of customer computers installed in student labs, classrooms, and AV integrations.

  • Provide advanced technical support, recommendations, training, and guidance in systems management tools and practices to desktop support teams, campus technical groups, and customers.

  • Collaborate effectively with peers and colleagues responsible for other support operations, including: desktop support, network security, classroom technology, project management, and administrative services.

  • Other related functions as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Skills comparable to someone with one or more years of professional experience providing desktop support, systems management/desktop engineering, and/or system administration of servers, storage and software applications.

  • Ability to analyze, diagnose and resolve technical issues.

  • Ability to work with little or no supervision, both independently and with a team.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally, to technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

  • More than two years experience implementing systems management tools and processes to maintain a fleet of Windows and/or MacOS laptop and desktop computers.

  • Experience with system imaging and deployment tools and workflows, such as Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT) and DeployStudio.

  • Experience with systems management and mobile device management tools, including Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM), JAMF, and similar applications.

  • Experience with MDMs.

  • Experience with development, staging, and deployment of workflows to distrbute operating system, software and security patches.

  • Experience with print management.

  • Experience developing and managing restricted function kiosk computers.

  • Experience managing a directory service (Active Directory, Open Directory, LDAP) and developing and applying system policies.

  • Experience managing and provisioning software licensing applications (key servers, license managers).

  • Experience with scripting and scripting languages (Powershell, Bash, Python).

  • Experience with knowledge management systems.

  • Professional experience in a University setting.

Driving Required

This job requires a class "C" operator's driver's license. The applicant selected must provide a current three year driving record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver's license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident. Employees who are required to have a CDL are subject to drug and alcohol testing (pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, random, return-to-duty, and follow-up drug and alcohol testing).

Salary Range

$50,000+ Depending on Qualifications

Working Conditions
