System Testing Engineer – System Integration Tests

About System Testing Group

Role Purpose:

The tester’s principal aim is to confirm and support the safe, reliable and effective operation of Airbus product related features and functions across sub-system, system and aircraft levels, primarily using ground based test rigs and the analysis of ground test, flight test and in-service data. The jobholder will contribute to the Avionics system Integration testing by preparing & performing system tests and analyzing the test results on all Airbus programs using Remote and/or Virtual Test Means. The jobholder will contribute towards System Maturity by exploring and implementing alternate/complementary validation and analysis techniques like Automatic Testing & Analysis, Big Data Analysis.

Main Responsibilities

● Understand System testing methods, strategy and planning, Write test procedures, execute tests, record results, perform analysis, record and classify defects. Writing summaries of test outcomes, Test Result Analysis.

● Use of appropriate means to perform real time analysis and support to flight test, the analysis and defect identification from flight test analysis - reporting on system behavior from Flight Test Report execution, produce Flight Test Report Analysis

● The investigation and analysis of in-service events, using ground rigs (real and/or simulated) to reproduce events and support RCA. Create and implement development test for In-Service problems

● The specification and validation of instrumentation on the test means for a given campaign

● Create, validate and manage automatic test scripts based on the system requirements

● Ability to understand the design specification documents like System Description Documents (SDD), System Integration Documents (SID), Interface Control Document (ICD) and derive system validation criteria / test cases

● The required innovation to develop the value added component of every tester – e.g. Automated testing, virtual testing, targeted maturity and free testing, recording and eliminating cost of non-quality.

Essential Qualifications

● B.E or M.E in Electronics/Avionics or equivalent

● 3-6 years of Experience in Avionics systems V&V or development

● Good understanding of Avionics Systems Engineering, Flight Management System, Flight Controls

● Basic knowledge of Indicating & Recording systems, Guidance, Navigation and Control.

Desired Characteristics / Skills

The candidate will preferably have experience or qualifications in one or a combination of the following areas:

Preferred Skills:

● Experience in Avionics System Integration Tests strategy, methods, test result analysis

● Strong Knowledge of Avionics System(s).

● Strong knowledge on FMS, Flight Control System, Autopilot

● Experience in Avionics Multi system/multi-function testing

● Strong analytical skills

● Experience working in domains of flight systems, flight performance

Additional nice to have Skills/Interests:

● Experience with Mat lab, Virtual Test Means, Engineering model simulation tools, excel macros

● Curiosity for big data technologies (data mining, analytics)

Personal Skills:

● Strong interpersonal and communication skills

● Strong written skills

● Project management and autonomous working skills

● Able to meet deadlines

● Enthusiasm for aviation

● Proven Team player able to support project teams.
