Job Description
System / Software Architect – Embedded Platforms (Linux / Android)
At Teledyne FLIR, you will play a central role in shaping the next generation of embedded platforms used in advanced thermal camera products. As a System / Software Architect, you work at the intersection of hardware, firmware, and applications, defining architectural foundations that enable long‑term scalability, reuse, and secure product evolution. You collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams in software, electronics, optics, production, and product management—turning complex system requirements into robust, maintainable architectures.
What you’ll do
Define and evolve system and software architecture for embedded platforms across multiple products
Design clear software structures, module boundaries, and interfaces across hardware, firmware, middleware, and application layers
Translate system and product requirements into implementable architectural solutions, covering areas such as boot flows, BSPs, build systems, and runtime architecture
Drive architectural alignment and technical decision making across disciplines
Support system‑level integration, troubleshooting, and root‑cause analysis across hardware and software
Contribute to architectural governance, best practices, and continuous improvement
Ensure cybersecurity, regulatory compliance, and secure‑by‑design principles throughout the product lifecycle
What you need
Strong skills in embedded system architecture and Linux‑based platforms (e.g. boot processes, device trees, BSPs, build systems such as Yocto) – required
Experience with Android system architecture, including areas such as HALs, system services, inter‑process communication, security concepts, and update mechanisms – preferred
Experience working in multidisciplinary product development environments – required
Knowledge of industrial or video communication standards (e.g. ONVIF, Profinet, Modbus, GigE Vision, Ethernet‑based protocols) – preferred
Structured approach to requirements, architecture, and documentation – required
Master’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field – required
5+ years of experience as a system or software architect in embedded systems – required
Fluency in English and Swedish – required
What we offer
You will work in a unique environment where research, development, and manufacturing are co‑located. Teledyne FLIR offers a collaborative culture, technically advanced products, and the opportunity to influence platform decisions that impact products for years to come—while developing your career at a global technology leader.
What happens next
Apply as soon as possible—screening and interviews are conducted continuously, and the role may be filled before 1 May 2026. Applications are accepted in both English and Swedish.
