The Role

As a System Mainframe Support Squad Lead at Kyndryl, you’ll be responsible for managing and optimizing z/OS and z/VM systems in enterprise mainframe environments. In this role, you ensure system availability, stability, and operational excellence while providing technical leadership within the support squad.

You will oversee day‑to‑day mainframe support activities, proactively monitor system performance, and guide the team in resolving complex technical issues. Working closely with cross‑functional teams, you help ensure reliable service delivery and the application of best practices across mission‑critical mainframe platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the management and optimization of z/OS and z/VM systems in mainframe environments.

  • Ensure system availability and stability through proactive monitoring and timely incident resolution.

  • Guide the squad in analyzing performance issues and applying effective remediation strategies.

  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to support business operations and implement best practices.

  • Oversee documentation of changes and activities to support audits, compliance, and operational standards.

Who You Are

You’re good at what you do and bring deep experience in mainframe environments combined with a leadership mindset. You take ownership of system stability and team performance, apply strong analytical thinking to complex challenges, and work effectively within structured, enterprise‑scale environments. You collaborate confidently with global stakeholders and lead by example.

Required Skills and Experience

  • 7+ years of hands‑on experience working in mainframe environments.

  • Strong expertise in managing and optimizing z/OS and z/VM systems in mainframe environments.

  • Proven experience supporting enterprise mainframe operations with a focus on availability and stability.

  • Leadership capability to guide and support a mainframe support squad.

  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.

  • Intermediate English proficiency, required for technical documentation, incident reporting, and communication with global teams

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Experience working in enterprise or mission‑critical environments with complex operational requirements.

  • Familiarity with IT operations best practices, incident management, and compliance processes.

  • Ability to mentor team members and drive continuous improvement within the support squad.
