This lab leader position requires expertise in laboratory clinical practice consulting, data gathering, root cause analysis, and solution-based implementation. The System Lab Technical Manager is responsible for strategic goals planning, budgets, and programs in support of clinical laboratory requests from clinicians, external departments and the lab team to ensure appropriate cost, service and quality in all areas of responsibility. The Manager participates as a member of the leadership team for Laboratory System.
Work which produces high levels of mental/visual fatigue, e.g., interactive and repetitive or small detailed work requiring alertness and concentration for sustained periods of time, the operation of and full attention to a personal computer or CRT between 40 and 70 percent of the time. The job produces some physical demands. Typical of jobs that include regular walking, standing, stooping, bending, sitting, and some lifting of light weight objects.
Experienced to CLIA and CAP regulatory requirements and inspection standards
Customer-focused, service-oriented and possess demonstrated skills to communication, decision-making, problem-solving
Advanced skills with computer information systems, spreadsheets, word processing, database queries and management.
Clinical Lab statistical analysis acumen to linearity, analytical ranges, and quality control standards to analyze data for correlations, validations, and problem solving.
Detail-oriented and organized, with creativity and innovation to drive process improvements
Guide test, methodology and instrument selection and implementation
Function as a resource to healthcare providers on matters relating to testing methodology and clinical and quality concerns
Direct training and procedure development - instruments, methods, new tests - securing staff technical knowledge and skill
Direct the development of protocols and test panels for clinical trial testing and research
Identify and resolve problems with test systems
Maintain assigned lab project progress and deadlines
Responsible for making timely decisions and taking necessary action related to the readiness for, and compliance with, the requirements of internal and external bodies, involving compliance, accreditation, auditing, and other regulations required of laboratory and the system.
Formulates and monitors annual budget, analyzing variances and benchmarks, and implementing changes in systems or technology required to increase efficiency, productivity, and promote cost containment.
Translates organizational changes into daily department operation, participates in the development of organizational strategies and involves department leadership and staff in the development of departmental objectives to those strategic goals
Responsible for the deployment, integration, and modeling of the behaviors and standards of Bronson’s Plan for Excellence in areas of direct responsibility and throughout the entire Bronson Healthcare Group.
Put into place processes and/or systems to begin to look at and assess proper utilization of laboratory tests and identify opportunities for reduced costs, improved efficiency, and/or improved outcomes.
Successfully monitor overall performance of department against mutually agreed targeted outcomes including financial and clinical quality.
Demonstrates a sense of personal ownership for the future success of laboratory function.
Participates as a contributing member to assigned Bronson System committees.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance laboratory quality
