This position is for a Systems Engineering student.  The position is based onsite in Cedar Rapids, IA. Join the Open Systems Solutions (OSS) Products Team and help shape, define, and design open system solutions that connect militaries around the world!  As part of Collins Mission Systems, we specialize in developing advanced communications systems, ground and flight computers, sensors, cyber and software solutions, as well as providing integration of Mission Systems. The candidate will have unique opportunities to work directly with our military customers, engineering and program management teams and hardware and software engineers that are leading experts in their fields.

We are looking for students who are interested in becoming Systems Engineers to experience all elements of the design process including system-level trades, requirements development, system architecture and design, performance assessment, integration and test, verification, validation and support of fielded products. Successful candidates should expect to be immersed in a fast-paced, team-based, and challenging technical environment where an individual with talent and initiative can stand out and thrive.

What You will Do: 

  • Performs analysis, architecture and design at all levels of the total system product including concept, design, fabrication, modeling, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. 

  • Performs functional analysis, trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.  

  • Provides analysis for the decomposition of customer specifications and system level requirements into sub-system and piece part requirements, and develops verification criteria and plans for the requirements. 

  • Researches and evaluates investments or changes in technology, resources, procedures, equipment, systems, or other assets to improve the quality of the organization’s systems products and services.

Qualifications You Must Have: 

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.

Qualifications We Prefer: 

  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies as well as the scrum master and product owner roles.  

  • Experience with the execution of integration, verification and validation phases of a product.  

  • Experience with tools such as MATLAB, SysML, Cameo, and Python.

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
