The Opportunity:

CACI is currently looking for a System Administrator with agile methodology experience to join our BEAGLE (Border Enforcement Applications for Government Leading-Edge Information Technology) Agile Solution Factory (ASF) Team supporting Customs and Border Protection (CBP) client located in Northern Virginia! Join this passionate team of industry-leading individuals supporting the best practices in Agile Software Development for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

As a member of the BEAGLE ASF Team, you will support the men and women charged with safeguarding the American people and enhancing the Nation’s safety, security, and prosperity. CBP agents and officers are on the front lines, every day, protecting our national security by combining customs, immigration, border security, and agricultural protection into one coordinated and supportive activity.

Responsibilities:

Providing technical guidance for directing and monitoring information systems operations.  Supporting activities associated with delivery of customer-defined systems, hardware refresh initiatives, and software projects; that encompass:

• Providing technical expertise in the infrastructure design, installation, implementation, operation, maintenance, and security of Microsoft Windows devices, with increased responsibility for independently managing assigned systems.

• Responsible for the complete administration of devices, including imaging, configuration, validation, and preparing and shipping devices as fully operational units, ensuring compliance with established standards.

• Handling complex technical issues and providing in-depth troubleshooting, guiding end users through the resolution process and escalating when appropriate.

• Supporting Microsoft systems across physical and virtual builds, ensuring stability and readiness for deployment and operations.

• Diagnosing and resolving application and system software problems, including issues requiring cross-team coordination or deeper analysis.

• Evaluating and recommending hardware and software enhancements as needed, including managing and testing system updates and patches to maintain performance and security.

• Troubleshooting configuration and integration issues across development, test, and production environments, ensuring smooth transitions and minimal service disruption.

• Creating and maintaining a variety of scripts to automate routine tasks, improve system efficiency, and support operational needs.

• Conducting tests, validating updates, and ensuring quality before releases, including documenting results and updating team members on readiness.

• Monitoring and optimizing system performance, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing recommended changes.

• Configuring security on supported platforms, researching security issues or warning notifications for applicability, and implementing necessary patches and fixes.

• Ensuring backup procedures are in place, functioning correctly, and executed on a timely basis, including validating restore integrity when required.

• Interfacing with vendor support service groups to ensure proper escalation during outages or periods of degraded system performance and following through to resolution.

• Performing scheduled and allocated work, providing guidance on modernization initiatives, and resolving technical problems to meet performance, availability, and cost objectives.

• Maintaining existing systems by analyzing, designing, and implementing changes to system baselines so that updates meet customer requirements, and supporting upcoming technology refresh projects.

• Contributing to operational and system support documentation in accordance with the program’s configuration management procedures and notifying the team lead when problems or issues arise outside the normal scope of work.

• Collaborating with cross-functional teams (OIT, Finance, Windows, etc.) to support integrated solutions and ensure alignment across the environment.


Qualifications:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to pass CBP background investigation, criteria will include:

o   3 year check for felony convictions

o   1 year check for illegal drug use

o   1 year check for misconduct such as theft or fraud

  • College degree (B.S.) in Computer Science, Information Management Systems, experience considered in lieu of degree
  • Strong technical background, with a minimum of five (5) solid years of experience providing system administration support for Windows and /or Linux Operating systems
  • Minimum 3 Years of VMware administration
  • Prior experience with Windows Operating System and application is highly desirable
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly responsible, team-oriented individual with very strong communication skills and work ethic; self-starter and highly proactive
  • Thorough knowledge of server and system administration principles
  • Must be available to work a hybrid schedule with on-site requirements in Ashburn and Springfield, VA.

The proposed salary range for this position is:

$86,600 - $181,800
