Job Description:

BASIC FUNCTION: Receives and relays incoming, outgoing and intra-system telephone calls. 
      
UNUSUAL WORK CONDITIONS:  
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL NEEDED:  

EDUCATION: High School diploma or equivalent related experience.

EXPERIENCE: Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills, attention to detail.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  

1. Receives and relays incoming, outgoing and intra-system telephone calls. This involves:

  • Responding and/or routing routine and complex telephone calls

  • Supplying telephone information, such as, hours of operation, address and street location

  • Relaying information regarding closing of the university due to weather emergencies, etc.

  • Taking messages by obtaining caller’s name and purpose of call,

  • Interacting diplomatically with callers in providing services.

2. Participates in the professional development of the department. This
    involves:

  • Promoting an image of efficiency and courtesy throughout the University community and consistent with the department’s mission.

3. Promotes safe and secure working conditions. This involves:

  • Promoting the proper utilization of equipment and materials,

  • Notifying supervisor(s) immediately of any unsafe working conditions.

4. Performs other related duties as required.

  • Duties may be changed and/or be added at any time.
