Job Description:
BASIC FUNCTION: Receives and relays incoming, outgoing and intra-system telephone calls.
UNUSUAL WORK CONDITIONS:
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL NEEDED:
EDUCATION: High School diploma or equivalent related experience.
EXPERIENCE: Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills, attention to detail.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Receives and relays incoming, outgoing and intra-system telephone calls. This involves:
Responding and/or routing routine and complex telephone calls
Supplying telephone information, such as, hours of operation, address and street location
Relaying information regarding closing of the university due to weather emergencies, etc.
Taking messages by obtaining caller’s name and purpose of call,
Interacting diplomatically with callers in providing services.
2. Participates in the professional development of the department. This
involves:
Promoting an image of efficiency and courtesy throughout the University community and consistent with the department’s mission.
3. Promotes safe and secure working conditions. This involves:
Promoting the proper utilization of equipment and materials,
Notifying supervisor(s) immediately of any unsafe working conditions.
4. Performs other related duties as required.
