Murrey’s, a division of Waste Connections, is hiring a Preventative Maintenance Technician to support our fleet maintenance operations in Fife, Washington.

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to advance into a Diesel Mechanic role. The work is hands‑on and physically demanding — you’ll service garbage trucks and heavy equipment, lift up to 50 pounds unassisted, and work in environments that may involve dirt, grease, and strong odors.

Schedule

  • Monday–Friday 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM
  • Overtime: 3–10 hours per week on average

Compensation & Benefits

  • Hourly Pay: $29.00 – $30.25
  • Shift Differential: +$1.50/hour
  • CDL Premium: +$1.00/hour for CDL holders
  • Tool Allowance: $125/month

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance on garbage trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment
  • Use fleet maintenance software to track and complete service tasks
  • Conduct safety inspections and maintain an OSHA‑compliant work environment
  • Partner with drivers to identify and troubleshoot vehicle issues
  • Complete repairs and maintenance based on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs)

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of hands‑on preventative maintenance experience in a professional setting
  • Experience with commercial vehicles, diesel engines, or heavy equipment is highly preferred
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Must provide a personal set of basic tools and toolbox
  • Ability to use computers and diagnostic software for maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn and grow
  • Safety‑sensitive position
