The Schweitzer Wellbeing Center is seeking a skilled instructor to provide high-quality swim lessons for participants of all ages and abilities. In this role, you will teach water safety, stroke development, and swimming techniques in a supportive and engaging environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Teach swim-lesson curriculum to patrons.
2. Provide high quality customer service, including responding to class inquiries and needs and professionally managing complaints.
3. Plan and prepare lesson content based on participant needs and program standards.
4. Ensure participant safety and maintain a positive learning environment.
5. Track and communicate progress to parents and participants.
6. Follow and enforce facility safety standards, policies and procedures.
7. While on shift, maintain cleanliness of pool deck, locker rooms, instructional area, equipment and surrounding areas.
8. Participate in process improvements to ensure efficient workflow with the aquatics team.
9. Understand. Create. Simplify.
10. Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
1. CPR/AED and First Aid Certification.
2. Ability to break down each stroke into individual components and effectively teach those components to swimmers of varying skill levels.
3. Basic knowledge of water safety principles and ability to incorporate safety instruction into lessons.
4. Demonstrated skills in customer service, problem-solving, communication, and computer knowledge.
5. Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities.
6. Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
7. Background check results satisfactory to SEL.
8. Negative drug test result(s).
Preferred Qualifications
1. Current Water Safety Instructor (WSI), or Basic Swim Instructor (BSI) Certification.
2. 1-year proven swim instruction and/or water fitness.
Physical Requirements
1. Strong swimming skills and ability to demonstrate strokes.
2. Regularly required to talk or hear
3. Move or lift up to 50lbs frequently, and occasionally lift or move a higher amount
4. Occasionally required to climb, balance, bend, kneel, and/or twist
5. Frequently works in and around chlorinated water

Pay Range Data
New hires generally start at $21.00 per hour.
