Sustainability Summer 2026 Internship - Communications (Student Wage)

UVA Sustainability is looking for a creative and passionate creator to work as an intern in the Office for Sustainability, to support the OFS Associate Manager of Communications in communicating the many facets of sustainability at UVA. This manager brings over 15 years of nonprofit and higher education communications. The position involves drafting written communication, social media content creation, website content creation/updates and event promotion for the fall semester, with the potential for continued involvement.

Tasks:

• Draft social media content using OFS and UVA branding.
• Compile UVA Sustainability bi-monthly newsletter content.
• Support digital and print communications for UVA Sustainability.
• Draft UVA Sustainability website content.
• Ensure accessibility in all print and digital communications.
• Support planning, execution, and promotion of OFS-led events, including Infrastructure Month/Campus Sustainability Month in October.

Skills:

• Strong attention to detail, very organized and reliable.
• Ability to work independently with excellent time management skills.
• Strong written, editing, oral, and visual communication skills is a must.
• Interpersonal skills utilized in interviewing and collaborative partnerships.
• Content creation and editing (using Canva).
• Strong graphic design skills.
• Social media savvy.

Compensation is $15/hour.
