General Summary

The Sustainability Intern will gain valuable experience and training in energy conservation, carbon emissions, data gathering, tracking, and monitoring. The Sustainability Internwill have the unique opportunity to work with the facilities and sustainability departments to support LAIKA’s sustainability goals, and work closely with the Energy Trust of Oregon coach and SEM Program initiatives to help us understand the power usage on stages, fabrication shops, and offices. 

Job Functions 

  • Assist the sustainability team on projects and initiatives including collecting data and carbon emissions metrics, creating supporting documentation, and reaccreditation status renewal.
  • Install high-performance data logger and relevant tools to monitor and document processes, and create a spreadsheets to track and capture data. Collaborate with multiple departments to assistant on various sustainability projects and action items, and ensure updates are tracked in designated project management platforms and databases.
  • Perform mandatory SEM tasks including tracking hours and tasks on a weekly basis, providing routine updates to energy coach on current projects, attending workshops and coaching calls, and preparing a program completion presentation to be presented to LAIKA and Energy Trust of Oregon. 

Qualifications 

  • Currently enrolled as a Junior or Senior in college/university, or graduated within the last 12 months, with an emphasis in Environmental Science or Sustainability.
  • Detail oriented and highly analytical with excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Able to effectively prioritize tasks and meet deadlines within a fast-paced creative environment.
  • Able to work both independently and collaboratively. 
  • Experience managing data compilation for measurements and reports.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

Salary 
$20.00/hour set rate, non-negotiable
