The Role

Position Overview

Kyndryl is seeking a dynamic and experienced ESG Business Development Associate Director to drive sustainable technology solutions and ESG-focused business opportunities across global markets. This role combines ESG expertise with proven technology sales acumen to expand Kyndryl’s environmental, social, and governance offerings while supporting our clients’ sustainability transformation journeys.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Sales

- Identify, develop, and execute strategic ESG-focused business opportunities with enterprise clients
- Assist in driving revenue growth through sustainable technology solutions, including green IT infrastructure, carbon management platforms, and ESG reporting technologies
- Build and maintain a robust pipeline of ESG-related prospects and opportunities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop customized ESG technology solutions for clients
- Lead complex sales cycles from initial engagement through contract closure
- Achieve quarterly and annual targets for ESG business verticals

Client Relationship Management

- Serve as primary ESG advisor and trusted partner to C-suite executives and sustainability leaders
- Conduct executive-level presentations on ESG technology solutions and industry trends
- Develop deep understanding of clients’ sustainability goals, regulatory requirements, and ESG challenges
- Facilitate workshops and strategic planning sessions focused on sustainable technology adoption
- Maintain ongoing relationships to identify expansion opportunities and ensure client success

ESG Strategy & Market Development

- Stay current on global ESG regulations, frameworks, and emerging sustainability trends
- Analyze market opportunities for ESG technology solutions across different geographic regions
- Contribute to Kyndryl’s ESG go-to-market strategy and solution portfolio development
- Represent Kyndryl at industry conferences, sustainability forums, and client events
- Develop thought leadership content and case studies showcasing successful ESG implementations

Cross-Functional Collaboration

- Partner with global consult, account, marketing and technical teams to ensure solution feasibility and successful delivery
- Work closely with marketing to develop ESG-focused campaigns and materials
- Collaborate with legal and compliance teams on ESG-related contract negotiations
- Support pre-sales activities including RFP responses and technical demonstrations
- Mentor junior business development team members on ESG market dynamics
- Excel in virtual team environments, building strong relationships across cultures and time zones
- Lead multicultural project teams in developing new ESG market opportunities from concept to execution
 


Who You Are

Required Qualifications

Experience & Background

- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field; MBA preferred
- 8+ years of experience in technology sales, business development, or consulting
- 3+ years of direct experience with ESG, sustainability, or environmental technology solutions
- Proven track record of achieving sales targets in B2B technology environments
- Experience selling complex technology solutions to enterprise clients

 ESG & Sustainability Knowledge
- Strong understanding of ESG frameworks (GRI, SASB, TCFD, EU Taxonomy)
- Knowledge of sustainability regulations and reporting requirements across multiple jurisdictions
- Familiarity with carbon management, renewable energy, and green technology solutions
- Understanding of sustainable IT practices and circular economy principles

Skills & Competencies


- Language Skills: Fluency in English required; additional languages strongly preferred (Spanish, German, French, Mandarin, or Japanese)
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills with C-level executives in virtual and in-person settings
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts into business value propositions
- Cultural sensitivity and ability to work effectively across diverse global markets and virtual environments
- Proven experience building new business verticals, markets, or territories in multicultural settings

Preferred Qualifications

- Degree in sustainability, environmental management, or related field
- Would like to see professional certifications in ESG or sustainability (CESGA, GRI, etc.)
- Previous experience in management consulting or technology advisory roles
- Track record of building new business verticals or market segments
- Prefer experience with cloud technologies, AI/ML, or IoT solutions

Working Conditions
- Travel: Up to 20% domestic and international travel required
- Work Environment: Primarily virtual/remote work environment with multicultural teams spanning multiple time zones
- Hybrid approach combining virtual collaboration with strategic in-person client meetings and travel
- Must excel in digital-first, multicultural build environment where new markets and solutions are developed from the ground up
- Occasional evening or weekend work to accommodate global client needs and cross-regional team collaboration
