We are seeking an experienced Survey & Document Control Specialist to support large-scale heavy civil and mining projects. This role is responsible for coordinating survey data, ensuring accuracy and consistency of project documentation, and supporting field and office teams with technical recordkeeping. The ideal candidate possesses strong knowledge of construction surveying, combined with exceptional organizational and communication skills.
Survey Support
Assist with the coordination, tracking, and validation of survey data for earthwork, mine development, utilities, and structural activities.
Maintain and update control points, survey logs, and as-built records.
Process and review survey files (in PDF and CAD formats) for field crews and project engineers.
Ensure survey documentation aligns with project specifications, mine plans, and QA/QC requirements.
Communicate with survey crews to validate field data and resolve discrepancies.
Document Control
Manage project documents, drawings, RFIs, submittals, revisions, and transmittals using company-approved document control systems.
Maintain version control and ensure the timely distribution of updated drawings and survey files to field personnel.
Track and log all incoming/outgoing documents, ensuring compliance with project and regulatory requirements.
Support team leads, engineers, and management by maintaining organized digital filing structures.
Project Coordination
Work closely with project managers, survey leads, engineers, and client representatives.
Support weekly reporting, progress tracking, and data updates for project controls.
Assist with compiling as-built packages, survey closeout reports, and turnover documentation.
5+ years of experience in heavy civil construction, mining, surveying, or document control.
Strong understanding of survey principles, earthwork operations, mine development, and construction drawings.
Proficiency with survey software and platforms (Trimble Business Center, Civil3D, etc.).
Experience with document control systems (Microsoft Office, Procore, SharePoint, or similar).
Ability to read and interpret civil, structural, and mining plans.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Strong communication skills and ability to support both office and field teams.
Ability to work in remote locations and active mining environments as needed.
Experience in large-scale mining or mass excavation projects.
Understanding of mine safety guidelines (MSHA certification preferred).
Familiarity with project scheduling and progress tracking.
Ability to support survey layout and field operations when required.
