Job Description:
Parsons are seeking an experienced Survey Coordinator - Airfield to manage and coordinate all surveying activities for a Runway / Airfield / Airport project. The role is responsible for ensuring accurate setting out, measurements, and survey control in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and aviation standards.
The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge, hands-on site experience, and the ability to coordinate effectively with engineers, subcontractors, and project management teams.
The Survey Coordinator plays a critical role in ensuring accurate layout, measurement, and verification of Runway / Airfield / Airport construction works. This position requires strong technical expertise, coordination skills, and a commitment to precision and quality to support successful project delivery.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Coordinate all surveying activities related to runway, taxiway, apron, and airside infrastructure works.
- Develop and maintain survey plans and schedules in line with project construction programs.
- Ensure survey works are carried out in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
- Establish and maintain horizontal and vertical control points for the project.
- Carry out and verify setting out for earthworks, pavement layers, drainage, and structures.
- Ensure accuracy of alignment, levels, slopes, and tolerances as per project specifications and aviation standards.
- Check and verify survey data provided by subcontractors.
- Ensure survey records, as-built data, and measurement reports are accurate and properly maintained.
- Support QA/QC activities by providing verified survey information for inspections and approvals.
- Coordinate closely with Project Managers, Engineers, and QA/QC teams to support construction activities.
- Provide survey data and technical input to resolve site issues and discrepancies.
- Support planning and sequencing of works through accurate survey information.
- Ensure proper use, calibration, and maintenance of survey instruments such as Total Stations, GPS, and Levels.
- Implement modern surveying techniques and software for data processing and reporting.
- Ensure survey equipment is handled safely and in accordance with manufacturer guidelines.
- Conduct and compile as-built surveys for completed works.
- Prepare survey reports, drawings, and records for submission to client and consultant.
- Ensure survey documentation complies with project and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure all surveying activities comply with HSE requirements and site safety rules.
- Identify potential risks related to surveying works in airside and active operational areas.
- Coordinate permits and access requirements for survey activities within restricted zones.
- Supervise surveyors and survey assistants on site.
- Provide technical guidance and support to the survey team.
- Monitor performance and ensure efficient execution of surveying works.
What Required Skills You’ll Bring;
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in surveying roles within infrastructure or construction projects.
- Proven experience in airport, runway, airfield, or large-scale infrastructure projects is preferred.
- Experience coordinating survey activities for multiple work fronts.
- Strong knowledge of surveying principles, methods, and construction tolerances.
- Proficiency in using Total Stations, GPS equipment, and surveying software.
- Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
- Strong coordination and communication skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in measurements and reporting.
- Experience in airside works and aviation-related surveying standards.
- Familiarity with BIM or digital survey data integration.
- Experience preparing as-built drawings and final survey documentation.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced construction environment.
- Leadership skills to manage and guide site survey teams.
