JOB SUMMARY

The Surgical Technician Extern is a student who participates in perioperative care under the supervision of Surgical Technician. This role provides hands-on learning opportunities in a clinical environment, supporting the surgical team before, during, and after procedures while gaining proficiency in sterile techniques, instrumentation, and patient safety protocols.

JOB DETAILS AND REQUIREMENTS

Type: Part Time (20 hours per 2 week pay period, with benefits)

Education

  • Currently enrolled in, or a recent graduate of, an accredited Surgical Technology program.
  • Completion of core surgical technology coursework, including anatomy, physiology, microbiology, and perioperative procedures.

License/Certifications

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or equivalent- required prior to clinical participation.

Experience

  • Understanding of aseptic and sterile technique and infection prevention measures.
  • Knowledge of basic surgical instruments and equipment.
