Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and families? Do you possess exceptional surgical skills and a heart for pediatric care? If so, join our team at Children's Wisconsin Surgery Center as a Surgical Assistant. An added perk, is that this position has no call, no weekends or holidays!!
Reporting to the Perioperative Manager, the Surgical Assistant functions with demonstrated expertise, assisting in all aspects of assigned surgical procedures under the direct guidance of a physician. As defined by the American College of Surgeons, the First Assistant aids in exposure, hemostasis and other technical functions that will help the surgeon carry out a safe operation with optimal results for the patient. This role will vary considerably with the operation and specialty area. Prepares for surgical procedures and assists entire surgical team. Assists with orientation of new personnel in scrubbing and assisting role. Also assumes all principal duties and responsibilities of a surgical technologist as assigned.
Completion of an accredited surgical technologist program required.
Completion of an accredited surgical assist program or at least 3 years of experience as a surgical assist after receiving workplace training required or relevant experience.
Certified First Assistant credential preferred.
Current CPR certification - Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers through American Heart or American Red Cross is required.
CST-Certified Surgical Technologist - The National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting
Tech in Surgery (TS-C) - National Center for Competency Testing
Hours: Must be flexible to work 7am-3:30pm or 8am-4:30pm based on department needs. No weekends or holidays!
