Arkansas Oral Surgery is seeking an experienced Oral Surgeon Assistant to join our team and support our surgical providers in delivering exceptional patient care. This role is essential to clinical operations and requires a professional who is dependable, compassionate, and skilled in oral surgery assisting.
The Oral Surgeon Assistant will assist during oral surgical procedures and ensure the operatory, instruments, and equipment are fully prepared for treatment. This role includes supporting clinical and technical procedures under the direct supervision of a licensed surgeon or dentist, along with providing clear and thorough post-operative instructions to patients, parents, or escorts.
Prepare all treatment rooms in advance for each patient.
Maintain and change chemical solutions (disinfectants, sterilants, ultrasonic, pre-soak) according to protocol.
Handle hazardous chemicals safely and in compliance with guidelines.
Seat, drape, and prepare patients for all surgical procedures.
Review patient medical histories, prior progress, and planned treatment.
Take x-rays as prescribed by the provider.
Assist the surgeon during oral surgery procedures by passing instruments, aspirating fluids, mixing materials, and monitoring patient comfort.
Prepare instruments and equipment for sterilization and proper storage.
Clearly communicate post-operative instructions to patients or escorts.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Licensed Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) or Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) in the state of Arkansas.
CPR Certification required.
Graduation from an accredited Dental Assisting program preferred.
3+ years of oral surgery assisting experience strongly preferred.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently and anticipate provider needs.
